Re: Gmeinder & Co loco

I don't think it was standard, and may be considered as a step too far, in authenticity?

I think I would leave it off.

Re: Cheapo diesel sound card

A Micron supplied MR603c does not have a pin configured for a servo output by default. - It will need programing. A RC Trains supplied MR603c (look for the label, or 'T' hand-written on one of the chips) has a servo output, for external ESC or soundcard, configured on Pin6 in RC Trains configuration...

Re: Ooops! - I have bought this

So did you get the old Anna going once she arrived? These old Beck have brass boilers, something to keep an eye on and drain dry when the locomotive is not in service to prevent the water from drawing the zinc out of the brass. Yes the notch is for a servo rod to go forward to a crank arm mounted i...

Re: Gmeinder & Co loco

Now there is a challenge for the weathering experts!

A little sad, when the custodians of heritage let it rot, but I suppose there is only some much time, money, and man-hours?

Re: Cheapo diesel sound card

Not sure if Andy has any Tx2 left?

I am into single-figures, then it becomes a little more of a job. - The Micron module is a different beast, but the peripherals remain the same.

Re: Cheapo diesel sound card

Rik, You said: Moving the direction switch to the "forward" position should increment the fashing by one flash. So, if it flashes once, clicking the direction switch forward should make it flash twice, clicking it forward again should increase it to three. Is that what you mean by "in...

Re: Cheapo diesel sound card

If you can change the number of flashes for the other options, you should be able to change any of them. - You are sending the same commands.. It could be you have either an older/earlier version receiver, and the firmware is slightly different. Or, There could be a 'feature' in the code in the rece...

Re: Cheapo diesel sound card

3,2,1,1 Would set Pin2 to be a servo output, following Ch1 (throttle). Getting the receiver into programming mode, will be the problem.. Would be less than a minute, with a Tx20. I ought to know where in the country you are, but the brain isn't retrieving the information so well, these days.. We are...

Re: Cheapo diesel sound card

You can prove that Ch4 is driving the soundcard, by setting your Tx22 to control Ch4 from the Inertia pot. - It will be centre-off, so you will need to set it to the mid position.. A programming change (on the receiver) will be needed, to set up P2 to be a servo output following H1 (the speed contro...

Re: Cheapo diesel sound card

P2/Ch4

I think that is your problem?

The throttle output will be Ch1.
Unless you have a way of driving Ch4, there will not be an output.

I think that what Andy has done, is give you a servo output on P2, which is controlled by Ch4. - Possibly a misunderstanding, between the two of you?

Re: Here's the land for the future railroad

It is at times like this, an aerial shot from a drone, would put the whole kit and caboodle into perspective. An area like that, in our (wet) 'green and pleasant land' would turn into a jungle, in a single season. - I am guessing it is dry enough that the vegetation does not get out of hand easily? ...

Re: What filler?

Really useful, thank you...

I have not had much luck with model fillers.. Either it was solid when bought (cheap) or used a tiny bit, and the rest went off in the tube..

Had not come across AK modelling filler.. I will have to look out for that one.

Re: FINAL NEW FWLR LINE

There does seem to be a marked difference between your kit and the example.. I wonder if pressure to get everything cut and sent out for Christmas, meant running the laser faster, at a higher output? I have had trouble painting over 'char' on laser-cut kits, and have not found an answer to the probl...

Re: Gmeinder & Co loco

Have you painted the inside faces of the lamp?

I find it better to paint the inside of the model, and around where the LED is, rather than the outer face of the moulding..
Once the light has entered the plastics, it spreads uncontrollably, and it is much harder to stop it bleeding through.

Re: Gmeinder & Co loco

You may have better results if you change the orientation of the LED? You get a (usually) fairly narrow beam of light from a LED.. If this is shining vertically into the 'housing' then it will be difficult to stop light bleeding through the top of the housing.. Another trick: You can file the end of...
