Re: RC semaphore signalling
Rik A very interesting development! I have a plan to fit signals to the "Railway in the valley of the mill", and have started by drawing out the Festiniog type signals, ready for printing. I have even started to work out how to programme Arduino boards. So your ideas have arrived at just t...

Very nice prints!
Particularly impressed that you have achieved this via "Fusion". You must have a good internet connection! And loads of skill.

As an aside, I don't think I've ever seen a narrow gauge circus train until now..

Re: Yr Hen Felin & Yr Orsaf Newydd
I wondered when movement of the baseboards would become noticeable! I think movement is inevitable however the track bed is created. Certainly my track bed moves even though it is concrete laid into the ground.

Re: The Railway in the Valley of the Mill
I have made a bit more progress: IMG_3917.jpg That is the third step removed, and the second step trimmed back to make room for the tunnel. To do it I cut grooves parallel to the step using a 9 inch angle grinder, and then used an SDS hammer drill with a chisel blade to break the step up into handle...

That is a very nice loco you are building!
As others have said - very crisp printing.
What resin are you using?

Re: The Railway in the Valley of the Mill
When I started to try to draw this out, reality soon set in - there just isn't enough space. Yes, there is, you just have to dig out more of the hillside and build a bigger retaining wall!   Sorry, couldn't resist! Seriously, it looks to be coming on well and yesterday seems ...

Re: The Railway in the Valley of the Mill
The next step is to make a tunnel under this set of steps: IMG_3907.jpeg I am going to try to dig it out without disturbing the steps first. If that doesn't work then I will have to dismantle the steps to dig it out before remaking steps. The area where the terminus is going is here behind the green...

Re: The Railway in the Valley of the Mill
The South West Wales group of the Association of 16mm Narrow Gauge Modellers visited to run trains yesterday. So a pause in extending the line to clear up after a long wet winter, and we were running trains in the sun! Peter's Double Fairlie crossing the bridge: IMG_3905.jpeg and the latest extensio...

Re: The Railway in the Valley of the Mill
The refurbished points and their track have now been relaid: IMG_3872.jpg Because of the way I had laid the track in the first place I had to put spacers under the trackwork I was relaying to bring it up to the same height as that which was already there. Luckily sleepers were the correct thickness ...

Re: The Railway in the Valley of the Mill
Trevor your explanations are so good I'm almost tempted to try building points in this scale myself... (I've soldered together points in 4mm and 7mm scale but nothing as elegant or as robust looking as these!) Meanwhile - some video from our running session 3 weeks ago . Mostly of Moel Rhos stock, ...

Next I have fitted the point blade to the straight running rail, and the curved rail leading to the wing rail. IMG_3865.jpeg Those two, with the rials on the frog unit define where the curved rail has to fit. So fitting the curved running rail: IMG_3866.jpeg Finally the last blade and wing rail: IMG...

Re: The Railway in the Valley of the Mill
The first part of the point has been fixed down onto the sleepers: IMG_3863.jpeg Note the joggle in the rail where the blade will sit. That was created using an offcut of steel with a slit cut into it. With the offcuts fixed in the vice the joggle was formed with the rail inserted into the slit and ...

Filing the frog rails to the correct angle Firstly bend the rail to the angle required for the wing rails, using the template as a guide: IMG_3859.jpeg : Then mount in a vice with the kink upermost: IMG_3860.jpeg now file the kink out, trying to file evenly either side of the kink, until the file go...
