The quickest, easiest way to produce a "new" loco is a quick re-engineering of an existing product- remember how quickly they reacted to popular demand last year and produced "Alco" from "Mountaineer". With that in mind, suppose they took one of their premium products a...

Yes indeed. A Miyazaki fan. I think the next one (whenever that may appear) might end up being called Totoro or Porco Rosso... Nice. I'm trying to keep a "local" theme for my names so wouldn't be going down the same road, though I will admit that matchboarded 2-car DMU in "Spirited A...

That't because the loco is based on a prototype which doesn't have enclosed motion, the sole steamer of the Chiemseebahn in Bavaria, a short (just under 2km) metre gauge line that links the main line station of Prien with the lake steamer pier at Prien-Stock. The line is mostly reserved right-of-way...

Another question. Where can I get number plates for locomotives??
You can get 'em made to order, but better value would be to go here http://www.roundhouse-eng.com/enhance.htm and scroll down to NP for numberplates, one etch has 2 each of nos 1-10 for you to remove, paint and affix.

Admittedly I enjoy all model railway "unhistories", but this one feels like a winner- it just fizzes with potential. In the North Eastern you have a sponsoring company with a strong and distinctive character- right up there with the GWR- whose stamp remains visible even today on the lines ...

It might be worthwhile looking for manufacturers for a slightly different hobby. There are a lot of snazzy lights (and other fittings) made for model boats that might suit your purposes. http://www.alwayshobbies.com/Model-Boats/Fittings/Robbe-Model-Boat-Fittings.ice http://www.cornwallmodelboats.co....

Well, there's family background on both sides. One grandad was born in a crossing lodge (Scothern, on the GCR Market Rasen line) where his Mum was keeper and Dad was ganger for the section- he never worked for the railway officially but one of his household chores was filling and trimming the paraff...

Temptation, frustration...

I've just gone back to work after a long weekend (well, half a long weekend, S-M-T) off, and onto the late (14-22) shift. Naturally, the big exciting cardboard box I've been looking forward to arrived precisely 1hr after I went on duty, so I can't even take a pic and play "what's in the box?&qu...

84hrs and not a single stab?

CLUE: This line was very fortunate in its Chief Mechanical Engineer, since it had that brilliant engineer of "Modern" steam Livio Dante Porta.

Thanks for that last picture- a clean train-shed roof is a thing of beauty. Don't care if it's not really very narrow gauge. WANT ONE!

Firstly, welcome to the forum from a fellow Yellowbelly (at Dunholme). As for track, since you're talking LGB I'm assuming you want 45mm. If you mix-and-match track from different manufacturers you may have some fun getting them to match up. The track gauge may be the same but if the sleeper depth o...

We might be tempted, if the roster-fairy allows. She hasn't been very co-operative this year (they'll have forgotten what we look like at Butterley by now).
