Re: Warning the Saleroom Phishing Scam

I had a call from "HMRC" whilst on the train last Thursday. They informed me that they had evidence that I have wilfully defrauded them and that a warrant had been issued for my arrest. Far fetched - yes, but when it is being put to you in a very believable way. it is easy to be caught. I have a lim...

Re: Cog Railway for the garden

The LGB Rack can be purchased here: https://www.wonderlandmodels.com/products/lgb-rack-rail-track-12-pack/ The matching cog can be found here: https://gardenrailoutlet.co.uk/rack-cog I can see one motor block that sold on eBay. The LGB engine is 2046. It still think that the gravity and water is mor...

Re: Cog Railway for the garden

This 12":1' version at Leas Lift looks like it would lend itself to modelling, Normal track canted at whatever angle is required and then a water tank with a coach in the top! All connected up with a cable. cable is much easier (and widespread in real-life) than a cog system. I've no idea how the Le...

Re: Battery charging advice please

I see that Strikalite have them on their site but you will need to determine whether it is a MkI or MkII LJ as the voltages are different. My Harlech Castle has played up from new - and it has only recently been suggested to me that it may be faulty. Mine will charge and change from red to green - b...

I never expected to see Tom Waits' ode to Curtain Twitchers on a Garden Railway Forum!

Re: Botch Idea

Thanks Andrew, I learned a huge amount from doing these, my first coach kits. The low resolution flatters them! The windows will be coming out and replaced but apart from that I'm very happy. The SS16 kits are super to work with. I have put extra lugs on the coach body for the floor/chassis to sit o...

Re: Botch Idea

I thought that I'd update this thread as, finally, I have completed my Swift Sixteen Coaches (4 wheel standard coaches modified with SS16 bogies) and can confirm that, although space is tight, it is possible to fit these and they do work well. There is no problem getting them around at least a semi ...

Re: Applying custom lettering?

There's plenty of Letraset available on eBay but I've given up on trying to apply it to rolling stock. I find lining it up almost impossible and getting the print to stick onto a textured surface also quite difficult. I was using it on Binnie GVT wagons. I was using black, but white is available. If...

Re: Fork Lift trucks

Here's the Fork Lift Truck deconstructed. The Motley Minatures' driver doesn't require a double foot amputation to fit in the FLT - he needs this to fit in the Landie! The external roof panel is removed using a credit card (or sharp nails) and then the holes need reaming to clean the paint away as i...

Re: Fork Lift trucks

Hi Andy
I looked at the Bruder ones but found them a little on the large side for me. I've also looked at their Manitou (1:16) telescopic loader but that is really big! I don't have a great deal of space to play with.

Re: Fork Lift trucks

Well it arrived today and doesn't disappoint! These are very well made and are to scale - I have managed to squeeze a Motley Minature's 'driver' into the cab. although to scale it should be noted that these are not a small beast - the prototype being a heavy duty, rough terrain lifter. The supplied ...

Re: Botch Idea

47mm in from chassis end. Handy to know. I'm planning the same thing. You will need to shave the insides of the strengtheners to run 47mm back as it just fails to clear. It is only a shave of the inner surfaces though - you can't see it from the normal viewing point. Making a card template helps. T...

Re: Botch Idea

I have positioned and mounted S16 Standard Bogies onto an S16 Standard Four Wheel Chassis. I've temporarily taped on a couple of S16 Mk2 buffers and pushed it around the track using a GRS Diesel. It wasn't coupled. I can confirm that it will run around both 2'6 and 38" Peco radii (at least 180 degre...

Re: Fork Lift trucks

Yes, looks it. I'll report back when it arrives.

This one is great - and was my benchmark, but unfortunately 1:14 (and it looks it too). It's also ten times the price!

Fork Lift trucks

Fork lift trucks in anything resembling 1:19 scale can be very difficult to find and I don't have any other way of getting things that are on pallets from the Land Rover up onto the loading bay. Today I stumbled on a model from Joal that is 1:20. It is discontinued but there are examples on eBay. Th...
