Re: The start of my garden railway
Land grabs are best done using stealth and cunning. An expansion can also be as simple as putting in the elevated level, mentioned previously, to complement the existing ground level track which just happens to need just a little more room, "not much honestly dear" "The clo...

Re: The start of my garden railway
Thanks guys, will hopefully have a more finished pic of the truck tomorrow. I would love to extend my land grab even further into the garden for railway duties as there is quite a lot left (see below) but I have been told to stick to my corner! https://i.imgur.com/Wo8Q1G1.jpg A bit more prog...

Re: The start of my garden railway
Thanks chaps!
Just nice to be working on it all again. Did a bit more this afternoon to a flatbed truck I designed and 3d printed, not done the coupling yet but quite happy with how it has turned out so far (paintjob is not finished either!).

Re: The start of my garden railway
Hey folks, Not had a huge amount of time until recently to do anything with the railway so I've done my best to make up for lost time since my last post! Firstly I had the only functioning loco out with my daughter today for a while, the weather recently has done the plants wonders and they are real...

Re: The start of my garden railway
Thanks chaps! Lovely looking loco Peter! Managed to get it outside for a test run today and it seemed perfectly happy trundling around with a flatbed wagon behind it. Unfortunately I managed to clip the exhaust with my finger and it pinged off into the grass never to be seen again! Will have to prin...

Re: The start of my garden railway
Finished my Phil Sharples kit today. Quite a nice little thing to put together, although I changed some bits - 3d printed an exhaust and some doors on the bonnet and added some IP Engineering metal wheels to weigh it down a bit. Let my daughter pick the colour hence the purple! https://i.imgur.com/0...

Re: Budget Loco Kits Under 100gbp
Hi there,
An alternative would be one of the Phil Sharples kits on eBay which are between £35-45: https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/vwmonkeyblue ... pg=&_from=. I'm currently waiting for his Hudson Loco kit to arrive (missed the postman on friday!)

Re: The start of my garden railway
Thanks for the kind words chaps! Clearing the track yesterday has given me the motivation to get cracking again and as such I have already started work on the IP Engineering Guard Van I got at the Garden Rail Show last year. Hopefully Aaron you and maybe your daughter can enjoy a hobby that's gets h...

Re: The start of my garden railway
Hi folks, Thank you steamer68 and FWLR for the kind words (sorry the reply took so long!). An update on the railway today, 2019 was a pretty terrible year for the railway in the end as I got made redundant about a month after my last post (everything is back on track now so no worries there!) so the...

Re: The start of my garden railway
Haven't had much time to do anything to the railway for a while, but today dad came over and helped me adjust some of the track and lay some points for a siding. This of course was followed by running some trains! https://i.imgur.com/aMQgyy4.jpg https://i.imgur.com/QvjPAKD.jpg https://i.imgur.com/jn...

Upgrades for SL3
Hi there people, As you're all aware MSS/Mamod locomotives are pretty unruly in stock form and as such I'd like to upgrade mine a bit. I can find mostly everything I need, but cannot seem to find anywhere that sells a regulator kit anymore as the Dream Steam one has been discontinued, does anyone ha...

Re: The start of my garden railway
Thanks for the kind words everyone, the garden is 100ft x 60ft so plenty of room to grow, however the Mrs has made it clear that I cannot fill it all with railway track! I'm planning to add another 25-40 meters of track in a separate loop which will link into the existing track. Have a playhouse to ...

The start of my garden railway
Hi folks, Have just joined the forum and thought i should get the ball rolling on a thread for my (as yet unnamed) railway. Currently the railway is quite short, using only 10 meters (ish) of track in a simple oval loop, but it was set up quickly so my daughter could sit and watch the trains until I...
