Re: Lady Anne Kit Build
A chuffer is must for gas locos, as you say you can hear the loco work now. Have a watch of Chris Bird's video regarding valve timing: https://youtu.be/Zm9Mm5ojI5g You are looking a couple of months for a Slomo but email Terry and check (I know he is on holiday in August). The Slomo will also help ...

Re: Lady Anne Kit Build
Fairly minor update, got round to fitting my chuffer and also spent ages resetting the valve timing from base principals and it's much better again but not perfect. Might end up handing it over to someone who knows! Really please with the louder exhaust and less mess out of the chimney! I'll be orde...

Re: Lady Anne Kit Build
Next up is opening up the valve covers and re-setting all the valve timing, used a vice to press on the cranks and it has improved the running - still some movement but no horrible noises! However setting up the timing from all of it being off without opening up the valve covers proved unsuccessful...

Re: Lady Anne Kit Build
Yeah I like plain, and then put a brake vac bag on there, looks more prototypical to me? Like the back of an l&b loco etc. Maybe a set of fire irons.

Re: Lady Anne Kit Build
Looking good. What high temp paint did you use on the smokebox out of interest? Also, the boiler plug you have there is it a top up valve or not? Cheers, I just bought a can from the local DIY shop, think it was for log burners etc, but cures at room temp - no primer which seemed alien to me! But s...

Re: Lady Anne Kit Build
Managed to have a painting session at the weekend, smokebox, SB base wheels and inside the buffer beams - definitely a marked aesthetic improvement:

Re: Lady Anne Kit Build
It does look good, I was thinking of getting a satin top coat to take the shine off the green, I've seen a few done and it makes them look a little less pristine which I liketom_tom_go wrote: ↑Sun Jun 03, 2018 11:02 am Could you bring yourself to join the mucky crew club?

Re: Lady Anne Kit Build
... I've never come across one where the back of the buffer beams are painted red ... Amen to that! Add unpainted shiny wheels to the list too. Haha yeah bufferbeams was a school boy error, will be painting backs black when I next do some paint 😂 I'd never really thought of the wheels but you're ri...

Re: Lady Anne Kit Build
How did you get on pressing the cranks down a bit more firmly on the axles? Looking at your pictures there does seem to be quite a bit of space there. After all, 'tis only the wheels on the inside or the cranks on the outside that stop lateral movements of the axles, and the beating of the reciproc...

Re: Lady Anne Kit Build
That's the most gloss frame I have ever seen, it has a mirror finish! What did you use, looks like it will be very durable. Haha it was a cellulose gloss black from the local DIY place! Don't look too close 😂 shinier than I'd like to be honest but it's gone on nice and thick so hopefully hard weari...

Re: Lady Anne Kit Build
That is looking nice, afraid I can't help with any advice on construction but do have a soft spot for Lady Anne. The body is just right (not that yours is fitted yet!). Any decision on colour? Thank mate, colour wise I was fairly set on brunswick green, but having recently seen a couple done up as ...
