Re: Atropos Rolling Stock Kits

The only 'numbered' screwdrivers I know of, are Post Office designations, but a 'Number 4' is a medium-width slot driver, with a longer shaft. - I would have thought this a little thick, in the blade, for this? I would think one of those cheap, small screwdrivers (used to be in a holder like a soli...

Re: Atropos Rolling Stock Kits

Just to be clear, the instructions read:
“Scoring of wood parts to represent planking is best done with a relatively blunt instrument to minimise the tendency of the scorer to follow the grain; the corner of a No. 4 miniature screwdriver gives good results”.

Re: Atropos Rolling Stock Kits

Thanks Philip, trouble is that Martin retired some years ago now. I picked this kit up fairly recently, unbuilt, to add to a few more I’ve acquired over the years. Just got round to making a start on them. I will use something else to scribe the planking but was, for once, trying to follow the instr...

Re: Atropos Rolling Stock Kits

Thanks Rik, I’d done a Google search but couldn’t find anything relevant at all. It’s strange that Martin (of Atropos) states it on all the build instructions as he’s so particular and precise (in a good way), if people cannot determine what it relates to. Even if it was an historical measure, I’d h...

Atropos Rolling Stock Kits

Good evening, I’m about to start an Atropos wagon kit and the instructions suggest that for scoring planking to use a “No. 4 miniature screwdriver” I may be being stupid but I’m not sure what a No. 4 screwdriver is or what the description relates to. Is anyone able to advise please? Thanks in advance.

Re: Whitegate Engineering

Just to confirm that the email address is correct, so thanks again Phil.P.

They are apparently due to be at the next Peterborough show but are not showing on the list of traders in the show guide.

Re: Whitegate Engineering

Many thanks Phil.P, that's really helpful. I will contact via the email address and see if they are still doing 16mm bits.

Whitegate Engineering

A regular at the 16mm show in years gone by, does anyone know if Whitegate Engineering are still trading? I bought some coach bogies and couplings from them and I would like to obtain some more but they seem to have disappeared from view.

Many thanks.

Re: Paint Colours

Hi Guys, looking for some help with finding the right colour match for Talyllyn coaching stock red/tan. The closest I can get for the tan is Revell SM382 and I'm quite happy with that, but I can't seem to find what is, to my eyes, the right red. Any suggestions? Don't mind if it is brush or spray pa...

So, what are people going to do without Brandbright?

Centre buffer couplings, quality wheels, axle guards etc... where do future supplies come from? I, personally, don't like the IP or Accucraft solutions....

Brandbright will be a big miss.

Nice loco but I'm disappointed that once again the Basic Series has been overlooked. Seems like a competition for the biggest loco between RH and Accucraft at the moment.

In the current climate more affordable locos would be appreciated.

These are quite superb. Was there any decision on making them commercially available?

Well, I contacted Peter Angus today regarding a Corris No. 3 but the likelihood of getting one seems to be quite remote :( I can be added to his list of orders but the wait is at least three years! I had thought that as these would be using more standard parts that they might be batch built but that...

I did wonder about them which is why I haven't placed an order before now. There was something that I couldn't quite put my finger on. The other thing is that you rarely if ever see Wrightscale locos running - certainly not the pre-cursor of No 4, the Tattoo. I'm going to contact Peter Angus to see ...

I saw the Edward Thomas and really wanted one but again limited availability! That was built 'with' Geoff Munday, wasn't it? Well, you've put me off the Wrightscale No 4 which is disappointing but I trust fully your judgement. So if you do manage to persuade your dad, and there's one available, I'll...
