Re: The Potters Orchid Railway

Captain Plod just had to lay some track down to get an idea of what is planned. The far end will continue on behind the back of the shelter awning to a separate steaming bay area to remove congestion in the narrow walkway, but that is a project for next year. No work will be done this weekend as Pl...

Re: The Potters Orchid Railway

Had to get another 1/2 cubic meter of decomposed graniteto finish and give a bed for the form work/ boxing. Later it will be caved out and the plan is a shallow valley and heavily forested area in the corner.

Re: The Potters Orchid Railway

That is some civil engineering! It's a good job that you and Trevor are at opposite sides of the globe, I dread to think what the two of you would concoct if you were close together! There are rumours of a tunnel. A very long tunnel... A very long vertical tunnel.. R We could tap into the thermal e...

Re: The Potters Orchid Railway

Your soil looks very sandy. Should drain well.... Rik This is fine decomposed granite, it packs down hard just by walking on it and so often used for walking trails here. It will provide a stable bed for the concrete track bed, but we will scrape it out where we need some depth for the ga...

Re: The Potters Orchid Railway

Sorry, only just catching up with this thread. Really clever idea to use those decorative concrete panels for the raised bed. The drainage channel is a neat idea too. As with all your projects, you seems to think of everything in advance :thumbright: Rik In my next life, with what I know now, I wou...

You'll have so much more room for (shunting) activities now!
Yes, but also when we have visitor days it will ease the scarcity of the siding space.

Re: The Potters Orchid Railway

Nice bit of construction there Dazza. More for MAM to plant after you have laid your track, better be quick though before MAM does her planting...  Yes, MAM is twitching and itching to get some plants going. When this is done back to finish off rolling stock, finish off the coal fired lo...

Built to last, and carry away the worst downpour you are likely to get!

Re: The Potters Orchid Railway

No one knows what Mr Spectre's thoughts are. He keeps on marking notes down on his clip board and constantly mumbling into his Dictaphone recorder. When pressed for his views he always replies with 'All will be revealed in my report due to be released late November' . We believe after the strife he...

Burning the midnight oil, Dazza?

Rik
It is dark early being our winter, I some times do another 30mins on the railway when the sun has just set as one can see the LASER clearly. I am done by 6- 6.30pm.
