Re: Merlin Leek and Manifold

Thanks Andrew That is possible - the loco as received was set at 45mm (although it is also re-gaugeable to 32mm). I would also assume that it has been sat on display for a long time too as there is plenty of evidence of it being polished but not used. I have also got a copy of the Merlin Locomotive ...

Re: Merlin Leek and Manifold

Thanks for the advice Tony - did the Merlin Hunslet use a brass boiler, it looks very similar? I think dad is hoping you may be be able to paint it at some point this year, he just wants to make sure it is a reasonably reliable runner first.....

Re: Wadebridge Light Railway

Thank you for all your kind comments, The diesel's names was what came with it; I liked it so it stuck. And yes, maybe it is a positive that it came apart in the post after all! With the arrival of snow on the line the latest addition to the locomotive fleet was sent out to clear the line with the s...

Merlin Leek and Manifold

I thought you might be interested in dads latest loco purchase - it appears to be a scratch built leek and manifold body and chassis with Merlin Hunslet running gear and other Merlin parts. The boiler looks similar to a Merlin Hunslet at the cab end (but longer) and possibly all brass? Anyone recogn...

Re: Wadebridge Light Railway

hello all and thank you for the comments, It's been a long time but here is an update: Not much has been doing on my railway due to college work and the cold winter weather but I have managed to finish a few on going projects. First of all, I have finished a swift sixteen guards van I have had sitti...

Re: Wadebridge Light Railway

Hi all, I must apologise for this update being overdue, I had a large electronics assignment for college on the go which was prioritised. This prevented me doing a lot of work on the railway. After this week was over I finally had time to do some modelling but I went to stoke over the weekend to wat...

Re: Wadebridge Light Railway

Here is another update on the railway: Last and the present weekends I have constructed the road between St Kew and Trethevan halt. it was made in the same fashion as the platform and level crossing but with one difference; a groove was cut along the centre of the road and filled with cement 'crumbs...

It certainly is different; I think it suits the engine well though . It's red because all of his engines are in a uniform livery of crimson lake.

Re: Wadebridge Light Railway

History was made at the WDLR last Sunday, we had our first ever visitors to the railway! Bruce and Peter of the West Cornwall Light Railway came over for the afternoon, both bringing an engine and stock. Bruce brought a Regner Vincent and Peter brought his Roundhose Karen. We made the most of the su...

Re: Wadebridge Light Railway

Thank you for the photos, I will use a livery very similar to them as I think it suits the coaches well.

I like those rivets on your HGLW engine - it adds some fine detail that really brings the model to life. :thumbright:

Re: Wadebridge Light Railway

Here is an update on the coaches. I have tried painting one in all green with white upper panels, I think it looks good and I prefer it to livery b (even though it looks miles better with the green raised to just below the windows). It helps make the coaches look smaller because they stand out less....

Re: Wadebridge Light Railway

Have you already glued the axle boxes in place? If not, suggest you get these and the wheels painted or chemically treated as it miles easier to do this way. Unfortunately they were already glued in place when I bought them. I will just have to use a small brush on the axle boxes however, 2 of the ...

Re: Wadebridge Light Railway

The IP Roundhouse coaches are not the easiest to paint. I have two of them and had been looking out for more for ages to extend my rake. Mine are painted red and cream. I think I have posted pictures of them somewhere! If I can't find the location to post a link I'll take some pictures if intereste...

Re: Wadebridge Light Railway

George, could you not go up to the bottom of the windows with the green and see how it looks then. I think it could be because the IP are two compartment and they look compressed compared to your other coaches. If by painting with the green to the bottom of the windows doesn’t look right, you can a...
