Hi Dave. Welcome to the forum.
I've not got an Ender myself, but it does sound as if the film is there for protection during transit and should have been removed.
Neither of my two machines came with such a film - though a replacement glass bed which I bought subsequently did.

Another from the NGRS Ffestiniog Collection. This one has been catalogued as "Merddin Emrys Taliesin and The Princess at Boston Lodge Works". That doesn't look like Boston Lodge to me. I did this one in Lockdown II & III (or was it III & IV) Cobbled together from some bits from an IP engineering chassis and a few other bits and bobs. I am curious? Did you ever consider going the other way, to match the track you had? I am thinking 7/8ths, but this is the man talking who *still* hasn't got his brain around scale, gauge, narrow, standard.. Phil.P I did wonder about SE scale as well, but I think that would have been even more work...
