Following the build with interest. I do like seeing models emerge.

Re: Solder aids

Very nifty. I've used one of those Helping Hands thingummyjigs for years, though I have modified it to make it a lot more sophisticated ..... by adding wooden clothes pegs to the crocodile clips ...... 2022-08-07-08-26-32-860.jpg (It enables me to hold things like circuit boards without damagi...

No work will be done this weekend as Plod is off to Gympie to be let loose driving at the Mary Valley Rattler.
Just watched that on the most scenic railway journeys which followed the Queenslander (or whatever it's now called)

I just thought you were trying to emulate the pecuniary precariousness of the line's namesake.....

Re: Commercial Printing

I am in the process of putting together a scanning setup myself. Hopefully it should become ready over the coming weekend. I have no idea how good or bad it will be, but I think it's the same setup as what Dean uses. I will let people on here know how it goes in another thread once I get it all wor...

That is some civil engineering!
It's a good job that you and Trevor are at opposite sides of the globe, I dread to think what the two of you would concoct if you were close together!
There are rumours of a tunnel.

A very long tunnel...
A very long vertical tunnel..

Re: A row of quarry workers cottages

What I reeeealy want to know is, with all the drawing and printing of cottages and windows etc, drawing and printing of figures plus playing with the software, not to mention huge amounts of 12":1ft civil engineering, how do you find the time to sleep and eat???? I reckon he's cloned himself ...

Re: Latest developments

I have no experience of sound cards, so what Rik, have you used in this model? It certainly sounds effective in the video, and I was impressed with one which I saw at the Tallyllyn railway some time ago. So my interest is aroused. No complaints about the steam sound with this one as it isn't possib...

Re: Latest developments

And now in (nearly) all her glory ...... https://youtu.be/rVvR86MMVHQ I think you can tell that she has been constructed to 15mm scale whereas the coaches are 16mm. When I've finished the last Southwold coach and/or the Glyn Valley coaches (all of which are 15mm), I'll see how she looks. Looks like ...

Did you create or 'find' the barrel files? Whichever, they really do look good!
(Thinks: A few on wagons to and from Beeston Brewery would look good ...... )

Re: Latest developments

Superb result Rik, I really do like these locos. And the open door on the port side of the smokebox is a really nice touch. Quite a few photos show these doors open and some have the access plates to the motion clipped open. Not sure if they ever ran with them open or if they were just opened when ...
