Re: Loco wheels (and other issues) 7/8th scale

I've used Essel Engineering before now and he (Steve, I think), was happy to produce some steel disc wheels to my spec. He might be able and willing to help.

Where are you based, Bob? Like others, I have a large stock of SMT mags, but always on the lookout to fill gaps.
If you aren't too far away, I'll save you a trip to the tip.

Re: Using TinkerCAD to produce drawings for 3-D Printing

That is great news. I'd noticed the option to export from Tinkercad to Fusion but never tried it. Like Steve, I was frustrated that adding fillets to domes and chimneys was almost impossible in Tinkercad. I have managed it, but it's a heck of a fiddle and the results are a bit of a hit and miss comp...

Supposedly very good printers those from what I have read
Just what I was going to say. They always come out well in reviews.

Re: HGLW loco tweak

I used the little oval speaker which came with it - glued under the cab roof as is my normal practice. Maybe the cab itself acts as some sort of resonance chamber? It sounds ok to me, though I'd like to find a way of reducing the volume.

Will they fit diagonally?

Re: HGLW loco tweak

I think this will be the final instalment. A few more tweaks - the most significant being that I've swapped the Deltang RX65c for a Micron MR603. The servo output from the MR603 gives a slightly wider range than the Rx65, but the engine note doesn't vary a great deal because the motor speed doesn't ...

Re: Using TinkerCAD to produce drawings for 3-D Printing

Hi Rod I could put together a set of basic tutorials, but Trevor's post has reminded me that there are already dozens of tutorials on YouTube which are probably a lot more professional than I could produce. I remember dipping into this chap's tutorials when I was getting started. I'd say they are a ...

Re: Gears

Might be tricky, Rod. The number of teeth together with the diameter might enable someone to work out the module or pitch of the gear. You would be better going back to the manufacturer of the loco to see if they can offer you a replacement

I was going to comment on its hauling capabilities. Really surprising you've not had to add additional ballast. Is it a 6v or a 12v motor?

The lining certainly helps relieve the slablike nature of the side tanks. Not a modelling issue, just a feature of the prototype.

Good morning! I'm a newby to Garden Railroading and am currently compiling track to begin my layout. Is the American Mainline G202-01 Code 332 Brass 6' Flex Track compatible with LGB 10600 track? Re: Cheapo diesel sound card

I must say that Andy has been very clever in finding a way to put the Rx into programming mode. As well as the Deltang method, the MR603 can go into program mode by tapping in SOS in morse code on the bind button.

Clever chap!

Re: Cheapo diesel sound card

Is the limited range because you are not using the full-range of the control when actually driving a loco? On the bench, you can 'wang' (technical term) the control over the full-range, whereas we tend to be a little more restrained, when actually driving. Phil.P I did wonder that as well, but I 'w...

Re: Cheapo diesel sound card

I've installed the card into my HGLW loco and linked it to the servo output from the Deltang Rx65c. But as you can see, there is very little variation in the rise and fall of the engine note. I've found this before with the Rx65. Whilst the servo output from the Rx65 is fine when bench-tested, as so...

Re: HGLW loco tweak

The AliExpress soundcard has been added and linked to the servo output on the Deltang Rx65c card. However, as you can see, there is very little variation in the engine note. I'll explore whether I can tweak the servo output range from the card to give greater variation. https://youtu.be/IYAk6RO3ojk ...
