Came down heavily this morning and looked promising but now after a couple of sleet and hail showers it has largely melted. Just hope it doesn't freeze overnight as I imagine the roads will be treacherous (and as a volunteer community gritter I'll have to go out first thing to do our pavements..). :...

Nothing here on the Cheshire Plain. I was hoping to get some pictures and video of trains in the snow.

Looking forward to film footage of this lot in action... Andrew. Thanks Andrew Yes, me too. Looks like snow is forecast tonight, though it could turn to sleet very quickly. I'd like to get some more snowy pictures and video if I can and if I crack on with the build I might have them ready for tomor...

Thanks Jim.
I hadn't thought of lining them. I've only ever used Trimline tape for lining and it's OK but not brilliant. I'm not really confident enough to use a bow pen.

It's taken a while, but I'm beginning to see light at the end of the tunnel for the remaining two coach bashes. Just a reminder - this is the more or less finished open coach (as detailed above) ...... ./myff/1844516/1-IMG_8191.JPG Still needs its interior fitted-out which is why they roof isn't yet...

The systems that Tony Walsham at RCS sells here in Aust. are Deltang based, but have considerably better instructions. http://www.rcs-rc.com/store/PDF/Instructions/Full%20instructions/Rx65b.pdf You'll notice he uses 3amp polyswitches to limit current in case of shorts. I fit these to my battery con...

Do you wire it into the main battery feed or between the speed control and motor?
As close to the battery as possible.

Do people fit fuses to their locos.
Most definitely! For peace of mind, it's worth investing in one of these - http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/16a-auto-rese ... aker-ak08j

Re: Jet loco

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=orgmjfump8M A friend of mine crashed his polystyrene ducted fan aircraft model. I used this with a cycle drink bottle and spinner to make the Jet loco. It has a top speed of around 40mph but we can't open it up on the D.L.R.. Reverse is a model car speed controller, ...

The wheels on the counter weight are male press studs.  I was over zealous when cleaning up the wheels supplied in the kit. I wish I'd thought of that. I used the bases of an Airfix station canopy for mine (found in the bits box), though I have used press studs as valve wheels in the cab of one loc...

Using found items in bashes and builds

After reading about some of the 'found' items Christopher has been using in his scratchbuilds - see http://gardenrails.myfreeforum.org/about9181.html - I wondered what else some of us have used in builds and bashes?? I've certainly used bottle lids for domes, pen barrels and ends for chimneys and th...

The tram is looking rather good. I am glad to see I am not the only one who looks out for odd lid and caps etc that might come in handy. Coincidentally, I posted something on by blog on 17th Jan about that subject - http://riksrailway.blogspot.co.uk/2015/01/re-using-found-items-in-scratchbuilds.htm...
