It is an idea, but no. I used a slitting disk and a razor saw.

I suspect this sort of plastic would weld itself back together once the hot wire has passed through.

Re: Photobucket "headsup"

I've not used Google Photos for sharing photos on here so thought I'd give it a try. Not yet found an easy way to embed the image on here, the img tags don't seem to work. Here's the direct link. I can see it, of course, can anyone else see it? https://photos.app.goo.gl/kPLVOyRAnkBU19fy2 https://pho...

Re: Photobucket "headsup"

What alternative options do we have? I am searching for a replacement of photobucket and complete migration of my albums, but still can't find a suitable alternative for posting here. Have anybody found good replacement? I've used Flickr and now use Google Photos because it links directly with Blog...

Re: Revamping the stream

Thanks folks. The water mills in this area seem to have been built on a similar design. Some have plain windows but a couple have small-paned windows. IMG_6685.JPG - IMG_6695.JPG - I've assumed that the small-paned windows are more likely to be original so set myself the challenge of finding a cheap...

Re: Revamping the stream

Thanks Peter. These things always seem to take longer than I envisage when I start them, but I do like finding a solution to a build problem by repurposing something.

Re: Revamping the stream

A little while since I posted about progress with the mill building. This is partly because I ran out of 1.5mm plasticard for the slates but mainly because I started the build while we were on holiday in France (you mean, you don't you take a modelling project away on holiday with you!?) and I had t...

I can empathise with your reluctance, but if a plant is in the wrong place then it must be a weed, whatever its size. :?

Hi Rik, The problem we think (Simon) from anythingnarrowgauge, is the r/x, it seems it may be faulty, Simon is getting me another one, so hopefully it will be sorted. Hi Rod It's possible. Might also be something to do with the motor and/or the mechanism overloading the esc in the rx. Trying a new ...

Really great to have so much indoor space. Must be reassuring to know you can get things done regardless of the weather.

Great photos. Interested to see the photos of Jessie on Flickr. I see you've replaced the original motor and gearbox with an MFA alternative. A wise move from my experience.

Bloomin' marvellous, Graeme. A masterpiece in miniature engineering. Be really interested in seeing it in action when you test run on track.

Ditto.

Incidentally, I'd also be interested in how you distort your LGB tipplers. The two which I tried melting were a disaster so I gave up.

https://personal.help.royalmail.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/143/ Any goods imported into the UK over the value of £15 are liable to import VAT. This 'value added tax' is set by the EU. Re: Revamping the stream

When I used the moulded brick pattern plastic sheet I first sprayed everything with grey plastic primer then, when dry, used a dry-brush method of painting across the bricks diagonally with two or three red/brown colours to give variation. The dry brush has enough paint to leave a mark but not enou...

Re: Revamping the stream

Looking good Rik. it is lovely stuff to use and I will be using my stocks as a base for some shed building this winter although probably clad with wood this time. I found brick work taxing but worth the effort. How are you mortaring when you paint? I used to use red oxide car spray and then paint a...

That looks great Rik. How long did that side take? Hi Tom I timed myself completing the rear wall. It took a total of 2h 27m. Marking-up = 1h 33m Cutting out = 12m Horizontal scribing = 14m Vertical impressing = 28m I've speeded up since the first wall. Also, this wall has around half covered in br...
