Re: TX24 transmitter
So my spare Lemon RX bound easily to the TX24, on the Little John it's super smooth and controllable. I took out the faulty RX and simply double-sided taped it underneath. Its enough to play with at the moment, when things get back to normal I will fit Deltang RX to make the most of the selcta featu...

Re: Accucraft Excelsior RC battery charging
I use one of these for all my non Lipo packs (Fly RC also so have lots) https://www.sussex-model-centre.co.uk/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/940x587/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/6/4/6455_multilader_02.jpg It's great as there are multiple outputs and you can charge more than one thing at a t...

Re: TX24 transmitter
When you want a Spektrum Deltang or an Orange and life gives you Lemons. My TX24 arrived today from Micron (thanks to lockdown service!) So this weekends project will be installing RX in my Little John with a dead radio and my Ragleth. Only DSM2/DSMX RX I have to hand spare are two Lemons I bought i...

Re: Rolling stock of the SVLR (Swansea Vale Light Railway)
So in lockdown, I am back to laying track and pottering with things Garden Rail related. On my weekly shopping expedition, I decided to not take the main routes and go via the 'old road' I have driven this many times and have never noticed this NG coal wagon. Methinks I might take my daily walk past...

Re: Scratch built buildings and applying textures to foamex
Careful what you order. Foamex is a brand name and their sheet is two layers of PVC sheet sandwiching a relatively high density foam core. It's really solid and totally weather proof, it's sold for creating exterior signage. Foamex is actually PVC foam that has been compressed, during this process ...

Re: Accucraft Ragleth - fitting RC
The forward, neutral & reverse positions of the reverser lever are fixed using an M2 bolt which goes into the appropriate slot. Accucraft Ragleth 06B.jpg So either unscrew or fully remove that M2 bolt. Job Done. Chris Cairns That was so easy (and so obvious when I realised duh!) Thanks for the ...

Accucraft Ragleth - fitting RC
I have at last got around to having a go at phase 1 conversion ie basic single servo just on the forward-reverse lever. I have taken the body off and almost finished the servo mounts. My question is (and I have looked around for an answer) is how do you stop it locking in position? I am thinking its...

Re: Scratch built buildings and applying textures to foamex
I'm also a recently new convert to Foamex. Take a look at what Rik's achieved with his brewery, and also check out Stephen Atkinson's YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCcYG3OlupwNZ9-eXnjtej2Q Not just the build videos (reminiscent of watching Bob Ross painting) but also some of the ...

Roundhouse TX issues
Anybody had any issues with RH RXs at all. I bought a Little John a few years, it had very little use (probably less than an hour in total!) Gave it a charge the other day and put some batteries in the TX but no joy when switching on. The brand on the TX is Abisma (which is an L short of being quite...

Thanks for all the advice, might use some spare orange rxs first and get some Deltang ones after lock-down.

Re: Prusa i3 3d printer
Those buffers etc are most impressive, no doubt about that, but I can't agree that Fusion 360 is easy to pick up. I've made a couple of attempts and got absolutely nowhere. I simply can't get my head around how to do it. We use it in school with 11 to 16 year olds (the sixth form use Inventor) most...

Re: Prusa i3 3d printer
Scratch built coach almost finished, it uses 3D printed buffers, door handles and suspension details, need to add the roof vents, steps and brake pipes which were also 3D printed.

Re: Prusa i3 3d printer
We have a couple of genuine Prusa i3 mk3s in school they are awesome machines and running 24/7 at the moment producing PPE visor frames for key workers. I would say use Fusion 360 by Autodesk, beats Sketchup hands down in my opinion, and fairly easy to pick up. In my opinion its a no brainer, really...

TX24 transmitter
I am thinking of getting one of these to slimline the amount of TXs I will be using. Is it compatible with all DSM2 RX's? I fly RC and have quite a few spare some Spektrum, mostly orange and a few compatible ones that are unbranded. Also, do people use the TX24 with both steam and battery-powered? A...

Re: SVLR Scenery
Wow, that is a seriously serious building. :D Lovely job and once the details have been tweaked, it should look fantastic. I presume you have access to a laser cutter to do all that? I'm interested that you plan the final version to be in ply rather than mdf, I'd have thought the surface finish of ...

Good source for materials
One of our students at school is building some Architectural concept models for his A level project. He had some really good corrugated roofing sheets. I am re buidling a halt on my railway that has a corrugated roof, the previous model had corrugated card coated in yacht varnish and then paint, las...

Re: Rolling stock of the SVLR (Swansea Vale Light Railway)
First run of my new scratch built coach, I coupled it with two of my other scratch builds and a Binnie granite wagon. The test was successful under the power of my Little John AKA Loco No 4 'Eryri' Time to draw a few more coaches to go with the 3rd class coach. https://farm5.staticflickr.com/4865/46...

Re: Rolling stock of the SVLR (Swansea Vale Light Railway)
That's looking very nice indeed! There's a kind of neatness to it that just "works"... I did a little laser cutting a while back, but have completely forgotten it all! I'll have to brush up on the stuff I learned back then so I can have another go - some of my files are a little untidy an...
