Re: Roundhouse Millie being dropped

Anyone else misinterpret the thread title?

Anyway...

Presumably the aim is to standardise the Basic Range - Bertie, Sammie and Jennie are technically pretty similar, are they not? There are cost advantages in that.

I'm guessing there'll be a side tank variant to come.

I'd be happy for PayPal not to refund these greedy folks, they need to learn their lesson
That rather misses the point of my post, which was that even if a "purchaser" is refunded, as far as I can see money is still given to the scammers, therefore encouraging more scams to be created.

... the possibility that I'll have to ask PayPal for my money back is pretty high, but what's life without a little risk? Come to think of it, assuming the money is reclaimed from PayPal, does PayPal take the hit/reclaim the loss from an insurance policy? Or to put it another way, does legitimate b...

Re: Live steam at a bargain price...?

These scammers prey on the greedy. I don't have a problem with that :D I do. Because there's a very fine line between 'being greedy' and 'looking for a bargain'. And because it's putting money into the black market. And because it encourages more scams. And because not all* scams are obvious. *Or i...

Re: Live steam at a bargain price...?

Scam appears confirmed over in the '16mm garden Railway' Facebook group*. (*Not to be confused with the 16mm Association Facebook group, of course, where at least one other person has stated they've also placed an order.) Someone has received something rather different from advertised, but has state...

Re: Semi-scale BR: electro-diesel time travel

I like to imagine the BBC dramatisation of that first meeting, where somebody seriously pitches the idea of providing motive power — for a prestige, revitalised service for which the Scottish government is coughing up enormous sums — by refurbishing 50 year old, essentially third-rail electric loco...

Do you mean the "X millimetres to one foot" thing? I think that's a uniquely British way of talking about scale - elsewhere the rather more obvious "1:XX" format is usually used.

Re: Trying to get the various gauges and scales straight...

Thanks for the positive comments! OK, it's not the most accomplished bit of railway modelling (or indeed photography) ever, but it happened and it was good.
