Re: Radio Controled Summerlands FX Chuffer

Hi Steve, Similar thoughts had been going through my mind. I like the idea of the wire through the chuff flute. I was thinking about it running down the center of the exhaust and drilling a tiny hole between the two exhaust inlets on the roundhouse adapter. IMG_5988.jpg Of course your idea would be ...

Radio Controled Summerlands FX Chuffer

I've been cooking up complicated ideas again... I've just invested in a Summerlands Chuffer and I'm wondering if anyone else has conceived the idea of being able to remotely control the chuff level? I've got a Slomo which has just arrived to fit to my Lady Anne which will be set up to be able...

BR Style Block Instrument - 3D Printed

I thought I ought to finally start sharing some projects that I'm working on in case it's interesting to anyone else. I'm involved in running and implementing the S&T for a sizeable 00 garden railway which has two Signal Boxes which are manned when there are enough people. The whole thing is con...

Re: Southwold coach

I’ve 3D printed springs in PLA for a 00 gauge tension lock servo operated uncoupling device with great success. ABS is springier so probably even more suitable!

If you want some light bedtime reading try this paper I found.

Re: Southwold coach

I found this thread on RM web. Not sure if it helps but near the end someone has a system using wire as compensation for the axels. Not sure if some of the concepts could be borrowed? https://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/6484-cleminson-chassis-drawing/ Ps I now really want to make a 3w...

Re: NEW FORUM FUNDING

My random thought that I've suggested to the admins is how about using something like Patreon to fund the forum.

It would only take 30 people paying £0.50 per month to cover the costs by my reckoning...

Amazing value for the content that people share here to my mind.

Re: Internet "forums" are a thing of the past

Why do you say that Tony. Most of the members I know don't like to be associated with FB. A tip for HugoFitz: If you are using Chrome (and maybe other browsers) there is a thing called AdBlock Plus that will stop you from seeing adverts. For Facebook itself there is a thing called Facebook Purity (...

Re: Internet "forums" are a thing of the past

You will find Jimmy, that FB is not one of the favourite platforms for most of the forum. That is a brave statement. 2 reasons I don't like Facebook Ads The transient nature of posts. (it sucks trying to follow anyones project progress or search back for references) 2 reasons I don't like Forums No...

Re: New Forum Funding

What I would like to see is THIS forum continue, with the site and domain name transferred, along with any other administration to a new owner, and nothing being lost. I think that's what we'd all prefer, and an option is being explored - we just need to keep our fingers crossed... Andrew. Absolute...

Re: New Forum Funding

I've found this which looks interesting. https://garden-railway-forum.tribe.so/ I've had a quick scoot around this, it's limited to 500 members for free, I can't see how much storage we get for that though. It also looks pretty easy to configure we can "borrow" the existing layout from her...

    Fiddly
Annoying when you go back through old post to find something juicy and photo bucket has deleted it!

Re: New Forum Funding

I’m happy to bung £20 in the ring for this next year.

I think if you credit contributors on their profile the that’s a good way for people to see who’s sponsoring the site 👍🏼
