Need to put them both on the full size VA at Queenscliff and then we can have VA-inception

Re: The Selby Granite Tramway

G'day all again, Been chipping away at things on the railway. I now have a one month deadline to finish it, thanks to some of my friends... Just put in an order with Mr. Binnie for 30 tipper wagons! I'll have something to keep me busy with then. I've also got 3 Binnie GVT wagons given to me by...

Re: Run time

With my Roundhouse Billy I have achieved a run of 55 minutes, counting from after the loco reached working pressure. This was with the gas turned right down on a level track with wide radius curves and the pressure sitting between about 5 and 20psi. Would happily creep around with a light train with...

Re: The Selby Granite Tramway

G'day folks! I once again realised it had been far too long since I posted anything on here. Progress has been slow at the moment as I've been busy with school and much bigger railways. I volunteer at 4 railways around the place, which keeps me very busy along with the ever increasing school work lo...

Re: RWLR - Robin Wood Light Railway

Movie Maker is no longer supported by Microsoft and not available for Windows 10 even if you have a downloaded copy of it. Since the 'Creators Fall' update there has been a limited video editor available as part of Windows 10 but it's not as good as the web based editor YouTube use to provide. The ...

Re: RWLR - Robin Wood Light Railway

My videos are not as well edited these days as YouTube no longer provide a video editor, however, it's not bad considering I was holding my phone and Tx at the same time. Windows computers come with a free editing software that is relatively easy to use called Windows Movie Maker. I believe you can...

Re: Rushton Bucyrus 10RB digger

There were some drawings in the 16mm assoc. Special on Leighton Buzzard. They aren't manufacturers blue prints but have key dimensions. If you are thinking of scratchbuilding I can scan them and mail them to you (or send you paper copies). Would be very handy if you could please. Can you PM them to...

Re: Hobby leads to job

I wouldn't rule out 5" gauge in the garden in the future. I have plans for the Australian designed "Blowfly" as well as some of the stock material and copper for the boiler. With a 1.65 acre property there is plenty of room for the track. I'm building a Blowfly myself at the moment. ...

Re: Day's Rail Tractor

Hi Graeme, I hadn't thought about doing a model of the SR&WSC Malcolm Moore. I'd considered buying a Tootle Engineering ex-army Malcolm Moore and gauge converting it but they aren't available anymore. I might reconsider doing a model of a Malcolm Moore locomotive. I have access to Puffing Billy'...

Re: How Big's a Binnie?

I'm not super stressed about weight. In fact I'd rather them be as light as possible as my line has 40 metres of 1:20-1:30 all the way up to the quarry. I'm getting some money together at the moment to buy some skips. Unfortunately I can't afford 72 though as 30 of them are already going to set me b...

Re: Day's Rail Tractor

Thanks for the advice all, very much appreciated. Hopefully I'll be able to figure it all out with the information I've got now. Talked to some friends about 3D printing the body and they recon it's doable. Looking forward to seeing this IP loco you're going to build Rik. I'll watch your b...

Day's Rail Tractor

Hi all, I've been pondering for a long time as to what would be a suitable diesel/petrol outline loco for the Selby Granite Tramway. A tramway the size of mine most likely would not be able to afford something like a Ruston. So I'm considering building a model of Day's rail tractor. Rail tractors ar...

Re: A Burnt Burner?

Ian on Roundhouse's website there is a very descriptive how it works page with drawings of a burner.

It could be contamination, Jim. After one particular roll over the loco ended up with dirt down the funnel. I believe we used CRC to break up the dirt, so it could be that.

Re: A Burnt Burner?

Hi Graeme and Dan, I know the loco has never been disassembled before my ownership, and I believe it only ran couple of times prior, so it can't be due to a poor repair. I'll get another photo of the burner, but it didn't look cracked to me. I have never mixed fuels though and I usually turn the gas...

Here is how my Billy "George" looks at the moment. IMG_8616-min.JPG IMG_8630-min.JPG I decided to dismantle it for a repaint, fitting a DJB whistle and a new body. This loco has been somewhat thrashed having now rolled over 4 times (Wasn't my fault I swear)! But its gotten back up e...

Re: The Selby Granite Tramway

Never fear, I'm still here! ;) Sorry for the lack of any update on my tramway over the past few months. Not a lot of work has occurred on the line due to me being occupied with volunteer commitments on real railways (somehow I manage to go to school and find time to volunteer at 4 railways!). Some w...

Your line looks great Tom! I love the clutter that seems to be scattered around everywhere, it adds a lot to the ambience of the railway.

I think simply painting black the frames, running boards and grill would make a huge difference to your Cricket.

Re: Rushton Bucyrus 10RB digger

It's a shame no one produces these in 16mm scale, I'm sure many people would want them. I know I could use one for my line.
