Re: IP Engineering "Fury"
That's a very interesting loco.. It's a small chassis and the motor with clutch and drive fits very nicely in the outline.. The big question I have seeing this, is how does it cope with the heat of the motor? There is no propellor forcing wind through the ribs.. Another big question would be about t...

Re: Cats and Dogs Railway (austrian narrow gauge)
Thanks everyone, The church ruin is made from tiles and small brickstones I collected on a spot where the floods of 1953 washed away some farmhouses (I live in Zeeland, Holland). The land was not retrieved and the dam built further inland. The houses where never rebuild so the bricks and tiles are n...

Hello Everyone, It's a while back since I posted something about my small railway. It still is alive and in use, with small aditions now and then. Since I had a major house rebuild and a renovation of our old campervan, not much has been added to the railway, except a church ruin on the mountain and...

Re: Regner Stainz burner issue
... However there is an opening from the underframe area into the cab right under the burner. This allows the exhaust gases to travel from the bottom of the smokebox to the cab, starving the burner air intakes for oxygen... Clever find, wouldn't occur to me to seek that way when having problems wit...

Re: Regner Stainz burner issue
What I've discovered with my regner is that you need to give the butane tank a rest after filling. Otherwise it will take vapour and liquid gas to the nozzle. The other thing is that you'll need to turn the gas regulator very far down when it's getting warm. Almost closed. Regner loco's need a bit m...

Re: Smokey Sophie - A Roundhouse/Riverdale Amy coal fire build
An absolutely great locomotive. As someone said earlier, very tidy and clean built, but still with the looks of a locomotive in active service. The boiler is very controllable indeed, impressive performance as well. Really fun to watch and see it working. Thanks for posting the video, I whish I coul...

Your batterypack is a good idea! It has a lot of juice and I could use some of them too. Didn't know these kind of batteries excisted, guess I'm living under a stone
Nice diesel loco too, keep up the good work!

Re: Regner SKGLB #1(Stainz sister engine)
Nice engine, I think the odd filler valve will be the only drawback on this locomotive. Beside the same odd filler valve my Regner works like a champ. I also changed the valve for a romson type. Keep the water level in close guard though, Regner locomotives tend to use more steam then a roundhouse l...

Re: The Charlwood Light Railway (CWLR)
@Rob, to mimic a long stretch of track to proprly run in your engines you can also use a rolling road. That way you can also keep an eye on things and add a bit of extra oil on the rods if it needs some. Since you also use LGB track on a brick wall, I also had some ditches and high spots, which I so...

Your copperwork looks great, Dazza. It will make a good firebox. It's also great you can share your hobby with your partner, my misses thinks trains are stupid  And it's splendid that she's able to make her own locomotives! By the way: the manual she uses is also great. Is that book coming with...

Re: The Charlwood Light Railway (CWLR)
Hello Rob, That's a great little railway. The best part of railways being "out there" for a while, is that vegetation starts to take back the tracks a bit, giving the railway a lot of extra charm. Great that you run live steam also on the out and back line, I can imagine that it's a bit mo...

Re: Atmospheric Railway
In Brunels system they didn't have neodyum magnets. The system of the 89 year old man is just a tube with a magnet travelling inside, the train as another magnet. So there is no seal and much easier to keep a vacuüm.. But in 2018 even his system is very slow and old. Lineair electromagnetic motors h...

Re: Enlargement - Part the Second.
The only thing I can think of, is that after the first run some limestone from the boiler got into the regulatorvalve, lifting the spring and thus opening the throttle to full. When you then try to shut the regulator the limestone acts as a bearingball keeping the valve away from the valveplate. Wha...

Re: Clatterbach Valley Light Railway
Nice little garden railway. Also a nice touch with the railway bridge in the back. For a manuial live steam locomotive these sort of railway's are the best, since you can reach every point of the track and since it's flat, it keeps a steady pace..
