I think the phone call has to be worth a go. I seem to remember some empty holes on mine too.

Hmmm, so that's looking OK. Ummm, check whether you've had an email back from Andy Bell? ;) There's also a couple of phone numbers on his web site (under "Enquiries") which might be worth a go, both daytime and evening? I'm afraid my speed controlled has got built into the loco since last ...

Thanks very much! My multimeter is broken so I think this a good excuse to replace it. I have tried swapping round the three wires for the potentiometer, but it hasn't made a difference. I'm mostly annoyed with Andel for never getting back to me. Ah well! I found that if I fixed the battery pack on...

(Brief de-lurk) I too have one of these AnDel manual speed controllers, going into the same type of loco as yours. Mine works nicely... good piece of kit so far. Looks like you have the pot wired up correctly: blue to centre pin, white and green to the two outer ones. But I'd start the diagnostics i...

That's gorgeous, but a fair bit pricier than mine was. I wonder is there room for any batteries? Not for 12 volts' worth, anyway... Here's mine (Saltford Models "kit" on Cambrian chassis), the very first loco to run on the current EHLR. ./myff/1661869/DSCF0007.jpg I did get as far ...

Chris Cairns.
I do, but the loco in question is slip eccentric. LH stick, with ratchet, for regulator. RH stick (have removed spring, but not got around to sorting a ratchet) for whistle.

Wise indeed was the man who defined a monorail as "any system of railed transport using three or more rails". (Yes, I know there are exceptions.)

One intriguing feature of "Tom Rolt" (cited earlier in the thread) is that the pony truck is pivoted from the rear bufferbeam, rather than from front. (The pivots are the two black things that stick out below the rear buffers - see here and here , for example.) The arrangement - which I've...

The bridge over 'troubled waters' looks good and seems to handle traffic without any problems. Yes, the fence (a.k.a. anti-Mamod device) has yet to be tested in anger! This section has been fine so far, though the tricky cutting just round the corner, next to the hedge, proved a popular spot for ru...

Thanks for sharing all these.

Richard, Have you seen www.huntleyarchives.com film 503?  It contains scenes of shunting at Tooban Jct as well as some other Irish NG footage. Yes, brilliant stuff - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r9fHocB3_Fw with the Tooban stuff at about 1:46. My best guess is that they're swapping wagons between...

I think it's a case of considering what (a) is visible and (b) seems at least half plausible in your particular circumstances - which seems to be exactly what you're doing.

So, we had a gathering here last Saturday for the local 16mm group, and it was wet. But we had plenty of fun all the same. Before kick-off, the late, lamented Lillington Tramway's Ruston diesel makes an appearance on a rake of tippers. ./myff/1648042/12-oct-02.jpg Lillington Tramway train again. ./m...

What may not be totally clear from the photo is that there are three bits here: the stand, the Y shaped bit that pivots in the stand and drives the point blades, and the lever and weight that also pivots in the stand and moves the Y shaped bit. The dimensions seem fairly critical (at least, one of m...

Re: Yatton Model Engineering

Just had an e mail from Peter re. new models. He now has the Bere Regis Jesty loco in both it's forms as well as the wagons for it. Due to its size, he has scaled it at 7/8 th's for 32 mm gauge track Very reasonably priced at £75.00p for a complete laser cut kit. The wagon is £30.00 with 3 tubs. Al...

I have a couple of weighted levers which came from Keith Bucklitch's line a couple of years ago - very effective they are. Dave Watkins of this forum also has some of basically the same design, which was written up by John Oliveria in 16mm Today No. 25. It's a bit dark and wet just now to go and tak...

Scene from the CVLR two and a half years ago (yikes, is it really?) with mine at the front. (Mine is the newer version from Wrightscale.) I generally put in 60ml of water when steaming it... Yes, it's tiny.
