Re: Archangel Range
Ooh I don't know, I would have a good long think at that price, (would sooner do up a £560 wreck though) its all got to be relative to what Stuart would charge for a new onecncmodeller wrote: ↑Sat Aug 18, 2018 9:48 pm No not all, I bought it for £560 I think I would struggle to get £800 for it.

Re: 16mm and its relationship with other scales
I've just seen an advert for accurascale, who are offering 3 wagons for £60, now their level of detail is extraordinary, graduations legible on gauges etc, but at any normal exhibition who would be able to see such detail? Don't get me wrong, fantastic to see such detail but for the same price I rec...

Re: New Roundhouse
No doubt about it, DLG is going to be a beautiful model, but not half expensive! The upside of that is the resulting increase in second hand models coming onto the market as people fund their double fairlie

Looks like he's making some good progress with her, theres a gent looking at building a new Gowrie and I've always been interested in doing a new build or two, so it can be done with a small team

Re: Cost of OO against 16mm
What interests me is the availability of the L and B in 009 and now WD locos like the Badwin 4-6-0 and 2-6-2 ready to run! Its just about 4 decades too late for me having moved on to 16mm years ago. Having said that the 009 prices are pretty hefty but probably reflects the microscopic Narrow Gauge ...

Re: 71 Mile Garden Railway anyone?? Channel 4 - 7th Jan
It might be blasphemy for me to say this, but if they end up doing a second series, I might suggest that they not use a narrow gauge locomotive, that would aid with the constant falling off problem, maybe gauge 3?

R.e the viaduct, I agree thats it's a very impressive bit of work, but did they not consider the possibility of it floating had the water risen further?

Re: 71 Mile Garden Railway anyone?? Channel 4 - 7th Jan
Shame it was such a dull loco I would have chosen something more interesting. What would you have chosen? Bear in mind they will most pikely have had to replace parts as they go, 71 miles is a long distance, so having to machine new one off components would be highly impractical and the reassurance...

Amazing they didn't get James May in on this, its exactly the sort of thing he would do, in point of fact he did do something very similar on the Barnstaple - Bideford route with 00 gauge models, need I say they did'nt fare as well as that Silver lady

Re: New Roundhouse
I think the tram actually looks alright, better than the Stanley in my opinion, and that was fairly popular, so that might do alright and while my predilection is for steam, the diseasels seem to have gone down well with some As for those unsatisfied with the current crop of RTR locos, all the bette...

Re: New Archangel Loco Works website
I think it may just be more financially viable to buy a small lathe and milling machine, for less than the cost of a new r/h as has been said, and start building our own locos to our own or published designs, perhaps making a few bob on the side making cylinders etc in small numbers for fellow garde...
