The Americans certainly know how to put on a good show with their steam locomotives.
Theatrical bunch, aren't they? I've noticed that too.

Looking forward to seeing the improvements, Graeme. Nice to see you got a good Accy this time too. :thumbleft:

Re: Little Wonder

I too prefer the hacksaw to parting off. Good to know it's not just my lack of machining skills to blame - my lathe's only 2" X 12".

Re: Biting the bullet - wholesale conversion from 45mm to SM32

PDF can supply a higher voltage motor, if asked.. Thanks, I forgot about that. Unfortunately I'm pretty sure that only applies to the larger "round" can motors used in some of their other locos. The real issue is that it's still only single-axle drive. Past experience tells me I'd be lucky to pull ...

Those ladders top it off perfectly, too.

Re: Biting the bullet - wholesale conversion from 45mm to SM32

Another ten down, over a few sessions this week. That makes 20, (two-thirds of the rake done) plus the three navvy trucks. Just another 10, and 4 boneyard trucks to go. Each takes just under 2 hours to convert - and I still have to touch up the paint and convert the storage cassettes.  ...

the cynical, table-thumping critic of crap corporate identity I am today. Not alone there. Great work as always, you're braver than I would be to rebuild that shunter. To my unfamiliar-with-BR-diesels eye, I wouldn't have known it started out a Thomas toy. It looks perfect. :salute: Edit: I have a ...

Love the extra detailing. Looking forward to seeing what you do with the new saddle tank. It's always satisfying to save something like that.

Cute little thing, that! The flycranks really give it more character - then again, a loco that works is better still.

Re: Need some idea with a water tower

Quite like that water tower. Looks sturdy too, can't go wrong. 8) I was also gonna say something like snake mesh. I used some for a railing around a mill chimney years ago, I just cut out every other square with side cutters and cleaned up the burrs with a dremel. 20431294_1654345477955768_310981062...

Re: Stockpiling structures

Cheers fellas. Hope I live long enough to see a new railway happen.. Not to mention the infernal car every time I post, (it's taken over my life and I'm not happy about it  ) but I make a point to take the same approach in that project too - I personally dislike LEDs, and feel they often spoil...

Re: Biting the bullet - wholesale conversion from 45mm to SM32

You're a very brave man I think "foolish" is the word here!  for what it's worth, my usual excuse as to why some distinctive and iconic loco ended up on my fictional line, is that the line's management happened to be in the area of the desired prototype, saw it running, and was so impres...
