Re: Roundhouse Billy locking up

Thanks everyone. Having given it a proper test run today it's definitely water in the cylinders, and far more than my Lady Anne ever seems to suffer from. Having said that I think part of the problem was that the regulator servo was poorly adjusted so it was barely opening when wide open on the cont...

Roundhouse Billy locking up

I have recently bought a Roundhouse Billy that has a bit of a problem. After raising steam it seems to 'lock up' and won't move more than a few inches in either direction initially. Eventually (often after a little assistance) it will go, and once running it's fine. It all moves ok when cold too. Li...

Are you able to light the loco easily if you try a match or gas lighter underneath the smokebox? Someone else just said the same thing on one of the FB groups, so i'll try it. It's always been a doddle to light from the chimney, but then it's never had a huge chuffer taking up most of the chimney d...

Trouble with a Lady Anne after fitting a chuffer

I'm still on my live steam learning curve, but I ordered a Summerlands Chuffer for my Lady Anne which I fitted this afternoon. After fitting it though, the loco was really hard to light and kept blowing back and going out. Is it possible that I've disturbed something whilst fitting the chuffer? As i...

I named my Lady Anne 'Lormina' after my Mum who passed away in August. Her name was actually Lorna, but Lormina was a nickname (long story), so I'm unlikely to see another loco with the same name. I also lost my dog 'Butler' earlier this year (2016 hasn't been the best of years at Chez 5H17!) and I'...

You can go between 32mm and 45mm, you just cannot use insulated wheels: http://smallsteamperformance.com.au/products-2/ Thanks. I knew I'd read something about it somewhere! This is all a bit of a learning curve for me at the moment. My Lady Anne does have insulated wheels. It's not beyond the real...

I really want one of these. I was sold after watching Hambleden Valley for many hours.
I did read somewhere though that after fitting you won't be able to re-gauge it to 45mm if the loco has insulated wheelsets. Presumably that's because the body of the slomo sits between the middle axle?
