Re: Royal Mail - Customs charge

I don't think there's any extra charge set by the EU - in fact as people have said, imports from the the EU have no charges. Anything over £15 imported from the outside the EU is liable to the normal UK tax (VAT at 20%, unless something like books, which don't have VAT added), plus import duty if th...

The last slate wagons I had from them (bought direct, 3 years ago) the wheels and coupling hooks were completely unusable. I ended up using Binnie ones instead. The bodies were fine, so they still worked out cheaper than anything comparable, but previous ones had been perfectly OK

I have a Sansa Fuze + which I've been very happy with - mine is only 4Gb internal memory but has a mini SD card slot, and it only cost about £20 (refurbished model) from eBay... It does do video, and plays many audio formats. It can be 'seen' as a USB drive on a computer, so is easy to just drag and...

There are a few subtle differences between the standard 'Lew' and the 'Lyd' version - the safety valves on 'Lyd' have extension pieces and a support attached to the cab roof, and it came with extra steps that can be fitted to the front of the tanks, to match the real one. The most obvious difference...

I don't have a 'Superior', but the 'Ragleth', 'Lyn' and 'Lyd' Accucraft locos I have all run for about 20 minutes or more on a first fill. The 'Lyd'/'Lew' is a bit harder to fill the boiler to the correct level as it doesn't have a drain at the 'full' level like the others do, and it's easy to get a...

I've had 6 Accucraft locos, and all have run well (3 were stolen and have since been replaced!). Currently I have a 'Lyn', Ragleth and a 'Lyd' (just arrived!), all radio controlled, and I've been very pleased with them. I managed to damage the front cowcatcher on 'Lyn', but was able to buy a replace...

Re: New Accucraft Baguley Drewery

Has anyone got one of these yet with the new metal chassis and are you happy with it? I've got one, and am very pleased with it. I originally bought just a chassis to replace the older plastic version on one I already had, and have since bought another chassis to put a scratch-built body on. It's a...

Stolen 16mm locos and stock

I just discovered this morning that most of my 16mm garden railway stock has been stolen - I'm based in West London, UK. If anyone sees any of this lot up for sale, I'd be pleased to hear about it! Obviously the standard Accucraft stuff there's not much point in looking for, unless it happens to be ...

Another vote for Trackshack at www.track-shack.com from me....

I've bought Peco SM-32 plain track and points from them, and if ordered during the day it's been with me the next morning, despite me being just west of London, and them being in the Isle of Man!
