Re: Why do we do it?

For me, it started a long long time ago, when i was still a child. My parents sat me down in front of the television and put thomas the tank engine on. it's been all downhill since then. Half-jokes aside, theres just these little details to be found in the garden i can't seem to find in any other sc...

Re: Rolling Stock for the Bodelwyddan Valley Railway

I have some ideas for stock, but my first task is to build a bogie brake composite. I wondered if anyone on here could direct me as to where the best place for wheels/bearings/bogie components are? Also, can any of you suggest the best way of ‘mating’ the bogies to the body so that the body does no...

Re: Lotus lakeside light railway

New line looks great, fine work. Can't go wrong having such a cute cat around either. :D He's been very helpful with the gardening, he even digs up flowers before they start to wither. At some point during the destruction of the old pond i found some slate rocks that had been cut perfectly flat at ...

Re: Lotus lakeside light railway

4 years later... What happened? My plans for a garden railway ran into slight technical issues... i had changed my plans to raise the railway up on breeze blocks so it'd be easier to keep the grass away from the track, but the family dog developed arthritis and my raised track would be a problem, so...

How to fit a summerlands chuffer to mamod/mss Locomotives [Video]

Hello, here is a quick video tutorial on fitting chuffers to mamods https://youtu.be/llR6LCm8FZg Additional notes: If the locomotive has been used alot, the smokebox may have partially fused to the chassis/body and will be very difficult to remove you may need to take a small flathead screwdriver an...

Re: Lotus lakeside light railway

Just when you thought you were finally rid of me, i return! i still haven't done anything with the garden layout, nor have i made any changes to the portable layout. the only thing ive done is put some "temporary" mamod track down on a garden patio and i didn't feel that was notable progre...

Re: Emptying boiler after use

as i had the misfortune of finding out, a week is more than long enough for algae to start growing in the boiler.

im not sure what kind of danger algae poses to boilers as i found it was easy to clean out but its something to consider.

Re: Lotus lakeside light railway

Lotus lakeside has visited burseldon brickworks. we attempted to run on burseldons track but there was a slight difference in gauges http://i.imgur.com/zme7JNc.jpg Due to this difference the portable layout was bought along even in its unfinished state. Sadly, due to a recent storm the hopper was no...

Following the suggestions of bazzer42 and markoteal, a n̶a̶s̶t̶u̶r̶t̶i̶u̶m̶ Sugar cane harvest was started. Re: Lotus lakeside light railway

Some progress has been made with the portable layout. Due to being made out of pallets, the layout has been named "Pallet town moorings". Very creative i know. its come to just over 9 feet long and somehow still fits in the back of the domestic authority's car its purpose and track positio...

Re: MSS Side Tank Performance

Has anybody seen a standard solid fuel loco operate for more than a 30 seconds or so on rails with a couple of vehicles behind? My MSS diamond jubilee has no upgrades, i got it to run for 1 min and 17 seconds pulling 1 mamod passenger carriage and 2 flat wagons before it ran out of steam and needed...

Re: Llechfan Garden Railway 19-03-17 - New Little Engine

from my experience i find 2.4 gh tends to jam other transmitters that do not operate on 2.4 Particularity troubling when your playing with a submarine, somebody chucks a fancy speedboat on the pond operating on 2.4 and suddenly your submerged submarine no longer responds to ballast tank control and ...
