Re: Loco wheels (and other issues) 7/8th scale
My PDF 1/12th scale ruston kit came without axles and wheels so I used 3/16th axles and Essel wheels, easily regaugable between 32mm and 45mm. Wheel diameter I used is 32mm available in the Essel catalogue. They will also make wheels with wider treads for 7/8th and 1/12th scales.I bored out the axle...

Re: traction motors for 32 and 45mm gauge
These look really useful. In the instructions the second stage is 34 plus 12 teeth, Did you buy this as a combined gear or is it two seperate gears ? I have had a look and can't see a combined gear. Or did you get it in one of the gear packs. Keen to have a go at this to would be pleased to get a po...

There is a drawing of a hunslet in issue 91 of the Narrow Gauge. It is of 2176 of 1940, Drawing copyright John de Havilland 1979.

Thank you Rik. I also have printed most of my parts on the flat, although I have tried a couple of vertical prints but without rivet detail.

Re: Latest developments
I like the look of the GVT tram loco Rik. What resolution did you use? I have used 0.1mm layer with good results, but I have seen a video on Youtube which suggested that due to the rule of 2 (related to the angle of the turn of the stepper motors I believe) that 0.12 layer gives a better result. I'm...

Hi Rik,
I have just seen your file for the GVT mineral in 45mm gauge and so will be having a go at this. I have tried altering the Binnie one to 45mm but it doesnt quite work. Thank you for uploading this file. I will also be interested in the GVT coaches.

Re: The Railway in the Valley of the Mill
Trevor, You might get away with a low wall between the line and the bank, not back filled. Lay weed control fabric between the wall and up to and around the apple trees at the top of the bank over the grass. Pierce the fabric at intervals for planting a low growing shrub. I have used lonicera nitida...

Re: Scales!!!
Hi Steve,
For enlargement I divide the scale I have the drawing of by the scale I want to change it to. 22.5/19 = 1.1842. It seems to work out OK. I usually check enlarged railway drawings on the track gauge and adjust slightly up or down to suit.
Hope this helps.

Very interested to hear how you have got to your present position Michael, and will look forward to hear where you go from here. For myself, I am not to bothered on adherence to a prototype as long as an engine is proportionate and workmanlike - I also work in 1/12th so will be interested to see if ...

Re: 7/8ths Building System
Ian, would something like copydex work? You can peel it off when you are finished and it might seal the base. You might have to run round the base of the pattern with a scalpel after fixing to remove excess and ensure a clean cast when you pour the rubber. Not tried it but thinking about my own futu...

Ian, Thank you for your very interesting posts about your pattern making and resin casting. I have done some preliminary searching for suitable mould making and casting materials, but it helps to have a firm recommendation of types and sources that have been found to work as is evident from your pho...

Re: Chronicles of the Dirranbandi & Toowoomba Light Railway
Hi Ian, Thank you for letting me know how you go about the blockwork. It will be useful for a short run of walling I have in mind and will be of great benefit not having to mix concrete for foundations. I am trying to avoid any heavy foundation work in future, and as you point out, it can be easily ...

I am interested to see how the walling goes together and what sort of foundations you need for them, They could be just the think for a project I have in mind.
