Victory runs

Finally got my Victory to be a running loco. The chassis built up and was running on steam some time ago. It languished on the bench for a rather long time whilst I got up the courage to solder the body together. I wanted a fully soldered body, this went better than expected and wished I'd started i...

All sounds good. I think my superior has a single hole in the buffer sure it didn't come with choppers

These look great, very nice work, though I think they look too large on the real thing. I have a Superior & Leader which could benefit from these.

I bought a rather sad Katie a few years ago, had to be totally stripped down, repainted and re built. Almost not worth the saving for the time spent but learnt a lot and it's my best running loco, love it. Sprayed in coronation blue

I went for matt and weathered down with enamels in an airbrush, followed by ground pastels brushed on a sealed with a matt varnish. then run it and don't clean it. Has quite a bit of character now.

I see Jack made £723 almost as much as Argyle. That's quite a lot for a blind engine, but they are rather sought after.

Makes me happy that I don't need either with the prices creeping up, Jack is fast catching Arglye. The thing with a Roundhouse is anything can be fixed. Will be interesting to watch the final results.

you might be able to pick up an Accucraft cab like I did for my Edrig. It was a Mortimer cab but works quite well.

Thanks Joe, was quite fun to do. A quick way to give it some depth is an enamel wash. Humbrol thinned down to look like dirty water, you would need dark brown/black to show up well. Paint on and it will run into the recesses. Have some tissue handy and dab off here and there and make sure you don't ...

most of the weathering was done with ground up SOFT pastels, rub on sandpaper and apply with a brush in downward motions. This will need to be fixed with a spray varnish. Some washes and a dry brushing will have been done too. The things in the box are oddments found around. Bits of electrical wire ...
