Re: (WH)WHR Rolling Stock

Hi Andrew,

Well, it's been a long time coming - but worth every moment of the wait! What a beautiful addition to the railway. I've always been impressed by your builds but this one takes the biscuit!

I look forward to seeing it in action.

Re: (WH)WHR Rolling Stock

Hi Andrew,

That really is a bit special. Not many models would stand up so well to such close up photography. I'm seriously impressed!

Re: Point Operation

Cliff Barker also supplies rodding, trestles and cranks. I've no experience of them but I've used other components of his and they have all been very good.

The final attempt looks great Zach, well done. I like the livery more than I thought I would when I read the description.

Hi Andrew,

Fantastic pictures of a working railways again. I've always had a soft spot for van trains, so I really liked your photos of the 'Santa Special' postal service.

All the best,

Hi Andrew,

The railway is looking really good. You did well to battel your way through the leaves!

Re: Sept 2022 Gallery - VOTE HERE

I reckon this is the toughest choice we've ever been presented with! Every single entry had some merit, I managed to get down to a top three but picking a winner led me to very carefully re-read the theme, consider what that meant and then how best my top three met that target. Thank goodness I didn...

Re: Commercial Printing

Thanks folks, You've given me some food for thought here. Durability was an issue I hadn't considered. They will need to be able to withstand the odd hot cinder and the effects of foot traffic. No idea about printing, I'm afraid, but I'm VERY impressed with your/the GCR's attention to detail! Mostly...

Fantastic Andrew, and very apt.

I love the track repairs too, nice to see the platelayers favourite tool to the fore!

Commercial Printing

Hello all, I hope you will forgive a non garden railway (and 12" to the foot scale) enquiry. The Eastern Region of BR used to mark each chain along the railway by nailing small cast numbers to the sleepers (about and inch and a half by two inches and about and eighth of an inch thick). Over the...

Just checked the website.

The home page confirms he is still trading but no longer making loco and that the business is up for sale.

Re: The (Windmill Hill) Welsh Highland Railway

HI Andrew, Brilliant pictures, I loved the 'pan' shot too. The train looks great. It may have been early but you seemed to drum up a respectable number of passengers! I haven't run a train at all yet this year. The state of the track on the CFLR and the amount of work required to make it fit has put...

Re: Scratch Built Wagons....

On the Midland Railway wagons were painted grey. Even as new that could vary between a pale grey and a dark grey. The reason was that the wagon paint was 'stretched out' by mixing in all the scraps of paint from the paint shop, so the 'colour of the day' depended on what other vehicles were being pa...

Re: The (Windmill Hill) Welsh Highland Railway

Hi Andrew, A very suitable way to spend the time, if I may say so. That's a very nice looking train in a very nice setting. I managed to clear some vegetation from my own line this weekend but it only revealed how disappointing my track is! Yours on the other hand looks very nice, well established b...

Re: A Quiet Sunday

Hi Grant, You have a real knack for the subtle. I've said before how much your pictures feel like looking at railway in old photos. (of course, it IS a real railway in it's own right - but you know what I mean). One of the subtleties I noticed in the first photo was the layout and spacing of the sid...
