Recommendation for power supply and controller?

I splashed out today and bought an Accucraft Caledonia (in maroon) for my soon-to-be garden railway. I have got most of the track together, but need to get a transformer and controller. Can anyone recommend something which would be suitable for an 18 metre loop of G scale track (I may add a siding or passing loop later)?

Something from LGB I'd expect. Have a look at Garden Railway Specialists (www.grsuk.com), they do stuff like that.

I think it depends on how ambitious you want to be with your railway. I've always used the standard LGB controller on the MVR, as supplied with the starter set. It works fine, but you can only run one train at a time. On the other hand, I have run on other G-scale layouts that have multiple train control systems; again these were from LGB but I'm afraid I don't know any details beyond that. Probably best to have a look at their website...

I dont think the standard "starter set" LGB 1A controller is up to running Caledonia, at least not under load, but I might be wrong.

The bigger LGB ones tend to be expensive. I know a lot of people use train engineer which i think is aristocraft (and dont get the orange one apparently).

I know very little about this so this might be entirely wrong, but it gives you something to look into anyway! I only have small LGB locos so my 1 amp controller is quite sufficient.

I'd ask the supplier who sold you the Caledonia, they should be happy to help you.
