Ace Engineering Works Roundhouse Lady Anne - Jane-Susan
Hi folks,
It has been a while since I have really sat down and focussed on the forums. For those of you who subscribe to my youtube channel or follow the Garden Railway Club, this will not be new news.
Well, what is under the tarpaulin?
It is one of these. I have always had the Lady Anne on my 'one day' list, so here she is.
A little bit of a plain Jane at the moment, but I do have some ideas for changing her.
As delivered
Anyone with a Lady Anne will know how they run, this one is no exception. She runs beautifully!

Who doesn't have one of these?
Our club currently hase 3 of these beauties running (plus one Silver Lady) with another currently being built by one of our members. The fact that our resident Lady anne is 20 this year and has lived a life with NO attention whatsoever just proves how utterly increadible they are!
Roundhouse, DO NOT CHANGE OR GET RID OF IT!!!!!!!

Incredible that other models come and go, sometimes after only a year or so, and yet these obviously continue to sell well after all these years. Mine was my first loco and will be 30 this year, meths fired, slip eccentric. Hasn't actually had a lot of use and is good as new mechanically, could do with a repaint though.

I should have scrolled down to see Lady Anne. Wonderful and reliable loco. Mine´s almost 20 years old, a youngster compared others.
Couldn´t have been one of these, I would guess .... but my guilty secret is that I´ve got one from ELR coming for my birthday, so long as the current Ms K&NWLR doesn´t find it on the doorstep. Have to start practicing "I´ve had it for years ..."

It is so great to hear of older vintage locos that are still going strong (despite the maintenance plan, or lack there of ). I do feel that the Lady Anne is a very well balanced machine and would be perfect for any beginner.
I have been up to a few changes already to start to eliminate the plain Jane appearance of her.
I have began firstly by acquiring a set of RH enhancements
Very reasonably priced parts and they are of a great quality.
A boring buffer beam
A little interest & detail secured with polyurethane sealer. No silicone stuff here, PU sealer can be painted over.
All fitted with some painted screws.
Nice bottom!
Next up was to correct the boring boiler.
Body removed
Two bands added
New bands and safety valve bonnet rested on. Hides the steam take off nicely!Much better.
The first outing.
On reflection I may remove all the boiler bands and paint them in maroon. I'll just see how I feel as things 'weather in'.

Thanks William, I may just do that. They are growing on me to be fair.
Sam the boiler bands are on the price list, search for 'EBB' etched boiler bands. £2.10 each. The width is about 4mm.
