Hello All,
Can anyone recommend a good source of WDLR wagon kits? AnDel's look easy to assemble but something about just looks...odd, I'm not sure what it is!
Many thanks
Chris

Swift Sixteen have started to do them!

As per usual, they will be brilliant!

I had noticed that, I'm waiting to see how their armoured simplex turns out, might just be my first locomotive buy! I'm also looking at their bogie coaches for the main passenger stock and their bogie box van for transporting the tea chests around (might have to modify them with some ventilation though).

Hi,
I've only been looking at the 'D' bogie wagon as this seems to be one of the more widely used on British narrow gauge railways after WW1. From viewing close up photos of the prototype and planning painting of the model i've wanted to be able to pick out the ironwork separately from the woodwork on the model. This seems more practical on the Andel version as the ironwork parts seem to be supplied separately. I have built some other Andel rolling stock kits and found that they benefit from a little extra work.
Slater's do a lovely looking version but they are expensive and the ironwork is cast as part of the bodywork as is the Swift Sixteen version. Of course the iron work can be picked out with a sharp eye and a steady hand which are two physical attributes that I have but not necessarily at the same time.
I don't know if Swanswood Models are still available as I can only seem to get a version of their website via links from others. Put Swanswood Models into Google and take a look you might be lucky. I haven't tried using the phone number or e-mail address supplied.
If Swanswood has stopped producing then I'm sure someone on this forum will know.
Good luck

Thanks for the heads up Brian, seeing your close up pictures has made me think I will dip my hand in my pocket for the Andel kit afterall.
I'll keep an eye open for Swanswood Andy, I like the look of their Stores Van, something to shift my tea chests around in!

Ive got two AnDel D-class wagons
Lovely models to make. Yes the door bangers are wrong as supplied with the kit but you can always make your own from some brass. The resin can be a bit fragile, e.g. the door bangers and the frame bracers so you have to treat with care.
The biggest problem I had with building my two was removing the moudl release agent from the resin - both took several goes with hot soapy water.
Highly recommended
