Awchit... Warning... LOADS of pictures
Hi,
For roughly 7 or 8 months now I've been building a Station building from scratch out of balsa wood, McDonalds coffee stirrers and card.
I started with one wall, as most do, and used two different thickness pieces of Balsa wood to give a step.
And then decked it out with coffee stirrers before cutting out windows and doors.
Station Master Bates...
All that and its no where near finished yet!

No one expects the SPANISH ACQUISITION!!!

Getting one of those discount coupons after buying a railway magazine at WH Smiths I visited McDonalds to stock up on more stirrers. Had to wait discretely whilst they refilled the dispenser - it is amazing how many stirrers you need for a large cup of tea!
Is this model a freelance design or based on an actual building or parts thereof?

Excellent stuff - I particularly like the slates. As for painting those I'd be inclined to paint 'em all mid-grey, pick out odd ones here and there in slightly lighter or daker shades, and then give the whole roof a darker grey wash... Maybe woodstain for the rest? Or prime and a very simple understated paint job?

Thank you for your comments.
Chris Cairns - Awchit is 100% freelance and I've literally been making it up as I go along...
Andrew - I like that idea... Simple is sometimes best! Thanks
Peter Butler - Master Bates says it's not easy being the station master of a small junction where the points have a mind of their own and the drivers are always shouting Oh s**t when they're sent the wrong way...
Hmm.. He'll want a signal box next...
