It's just the aerial roots Tom, the line skirts around the tree trunks

This light is very bright, and a cold white. But it responds well to the PWM dimmer. The wiring still needs arranging.
The wiring still needs completing, the light is not connected. I must get round to it
I've just fixed-up all the dead image links and made the videos into the latest format

Thank you Rod!
I've just re-read the whole build again, it was so much fun.
Wish I had posted some photos of the gear making, they took so long to make but were so satisfying
Here from the archives is one of the few gear cutting pictures that I took. These gears are the thin gears on each side that transfer the drive from the forward/reverse shaft to the 1-2-3 gears shaft. Milling both 1/4" wide gears at the same time on the mandrel. These were the last gears to be cut. Previously up to four 3/8" wide gears were milled at the same time to reduce the amount of indexing

That looks pretty high calibre work Dave, I can definitely see why the end result was so satisfying. Did you make the cutter?
Grant.

Thanks lads
Yes, it was a homemade cutter Grant. There's a link to it in the earlier pages that detail how to make them. I discovered it on a website

The last run of the loco revealed that I need to be able to easily increase the revs of the engine when engaging the clutch
I'm planning on some sort of wheel by the dashboard for manual control
I've got the bodywork off to assess the situation

Being a fan of narrowboats I decided on a speed wheel for engine speed adjustment on the loco

Another hole through the silencer was required, I was able to solder the tube in without damaging the paint

Thanks Rod
Had a good run of the loco yesterday. Gave the new "speed wheel" a good going. It's connected to a 10BA thread so the pitch is very fine so its very insensitive. I spun the wheel to increase the revs before engaging the clutch, then when the loco is moving spin the wheel back again to decrease the speed.
Last week I gave the cylinder head a good clean of all the gunk in the rocker area, it had a lot of castor oil jelly building up. I now lube the valve with 30W 4-stroke lawnmower oil. There was a bit of slack on the exhaust valve adjustment so I fixed that too. Here is the head after the run yesterday
