Britomart escapes captivity!

Post by DolwyddelanLightRail » Wed Jan 09, 2013 6:50 pm

Yes, you have been warned, Britomart has escaped from York and has been spotted all over the UK!

OK, in reality I'm doing my rounds of the UK again by rail, and thought I'd take Britomart with me for the amusement factor

Day 1

First leg of the journey, Brit is seen on a bench at York....waiting to head to London!

Image

Upon arrival into London I then went up to Norwich, but unfortunately with (what turned into) a 30 second connection at Norwich I was unable to get a phot there, but I managed one at London Paddington....

Before setting off to....

Didcot Parkway!

Image

and carrying onto Bristol!

Image

Whilst not long after was seen in the rain at Swindon!

Image

After Swindon I headed back into London to Euston.....to catch the 2115 Caledonian Sleeper......with Brit captured as it left Stafford on it's way north....

Image

which leads into......

Day 2

I should have made a makeshift pair of white Scottie Dogs for the morning....

Image

But it's stay in Scotland was short lived whilst waiting for the Highland Cheiftain from Aviemore to London Kings Cross!

Image

Later on at London Kings Cross, with the rear powercar of the HST from Aviemore down south.

Image

Now, my next train out of London that I have to be on is at 2345, so I took a little jolly up the Midland Mainline.....

Image

and as I type this, I'm on another HST back to London still with some time to kill......so where-ever next I wonder....? ;)

Being arrested on a station platform for "suspicious terrorist activity"!

Was that 1st Class or 2nd Class on the Sleeper, and was it on time at Aviemore?

Which is why I didn't try the "stunt" at London St Pancras!

It was First, and the second time I've done it within the past month....been perfectly on time both times!

Think this is surely one of the most well travelled 16mm scale locos around, or any model rail loco for that matter! Just watch out for Pirates and Pixies where you are going tonight...! :P

Too late for that, it's been and gone yesterday on the Highland Cheiftain from Aviemore to London Kings Cross!

This morning at 8am....after being the only passenger to get off at....

I can now report that I'm back home, and I've calculated that Britomart has travelled.......

..... 3008.4 miles in under 3 days!

Right, here is a little competition, I've just managed to roughly calculate how many miles Britomart has done by Britain's Railways it total, who can guess the nearest mileage?

Over 9000 miles would have been more impressive whilst it was on fire!
