Hello! Completed the construction of the Isle Of Man Goods Wagon kit. Who can show photos of the prototype or a similar wagon? Of what was done in the prototype roof. What color it is. I apologize for my bad English.

G19 was a relatively late build using an old E class brake van chassis. As a result it is a little longer than the old vans being roughly 4.9 metres long instead of 4.1 metres long. The largest IMR goods vehicles were build on A-class carriage underframes and were 5.34m.
The roofs were covered in canvas and made waterproof with paint. As this was lead based it quickly weathered to a very dark grey.
In 15mm scale I usually brush watered down white glue on the roof, lay a sheet of tissue paper cut to size one top of thje glue and brush it down. After that I sandpaper it flat, and repeat the process to add another layer of tissue paper. I then sand the whole thing smooth and paint a very dark grey. I have also had good results using pieces 20lb cloth flour sacks which are made of a very tightly woven cotton.

Old handkerchiefs work as well.............. I was once lucky enough to be given some linen that had had plans drawn on it - I washed it (to "lose" the plans) and it was ideal!
