The NWAG invade the Wigfa and Llanrwst Railway

It was in the latter stages of my visit to the W&LR back in July that I asked Dave the owner if he would mind if I organised a visit from as many North West Area Group members as I could persuade to come down for a day. He agreed and yesterday the first ever NWAG out of area group steamup took place as 9 members made the treck down to North Wales. In addition, some of the local North West Wales Area Group turned out, including TonyW. The result was a great gathering with a variety of locos, in the the great setting of what I think is the best garden railway I've ever been to. Here are the pics (warning, lots of them, cut down from well over 100!)

Whilst PTLRsam started off with his Archangel Sgt Murphey. Unfortunatly it found a rough section of track at the bottom of a hill a few times!

The third ANLR loco was Criccieth Castle, although with plenty of steam locos it didn't see much use

TonyW's NG15, thats what! The 6 car train was a bit short for it though. I look forward to seeing this with a longer train some day really showing what it can do

More South African superpower, this time its Black Combe from the PTLR
So James, wish you had attended now?
Tony's Lilla in the yard. A fine piece of modelling, notice how the bufferbeam is slightly bent, this is actually prototypical
The final NWAG train was the traditional ANLR/PTLR double header. Russell and Lesley Kay took 10 Ffestiniog carriages with not much fuss. The headboard is for "The Snowdonian" and is a purchase by PTLRcecil from Harbour Station shop last week!

A massive thank you to Dave for allowing not just me, but the rest of the NWAG members who made the journey to visit. Also thanks to the North Wales attendees, it added to the event significantly. Thoughts are already turning to a repeat event next year, quite possibly on the AGM day....
