The way I run trains at the ØVJ

Because of my interrest in swedish and norvegian ng.trains , my coaches(2 by now) are quite long, 55 cm.over the buffers. This has given me a lot of troubles, and in fact I havent managed to run a train without derailments, bufferlock or distroying parts of the coaches
But a week ago the solution struck me Just drive the train the easy part of the railroad. That´s 3/4 of the total length, then switch to goodswagons and run the whole line!! This gives a lot more interrest to the driving, as I switch the rolling stock, and drive two different types of trains.

Its' good to hear about you getting around your operational difficulties................ As you use centre buffers, two suggestions: Fit buffers to your coaches with the biggest heads you can find - that'll stop the buffer heads dropping behind each other. You could even experiment with epoxying a strip of plastic card across the buffers - ugly but effective and at least you'll be able to prove the point. Also, find yourself some much finer coupling chain, so 3 links aren't anywhere NEAR as long - this will stop the heads getting into the position where they "want" to get behind each other.

That´s an interesting thought! I have been thinking in the opposit direction: Beeing afraid of derailments I have used 4 links between the coaches.
The buffers on the coaches have been changed to Regner buffers. They are huge but they really to the job!
But another problem is Roundhouse buffers on some of my new wagons: The hooks are to big, so three links dont reach over the ends of the hooks (maybe I just have to cut them a bit shorter?)
Finally: The green coach isn´t anywhere nordic, but I like it and don´t plan any bigger changes on it. It´s an SAR coach bought on ebay.

You've got a lovely set of coaches there! Somehow, the green one doesn't look out of place
My longest coach needs five-link coupling chains to get round our tightest bends. Not a very elegant solution, but it works!
