Spring at Scorton Bank

Well the NWAG are really motoring now (3 weeks until PTLR fest! ) and today the lovely Scorton Bank Railway held its first NWAG steamup of the year. Being a reasonable size line with quite large curves and quite a lot of rolling stock, it is conductive to long trains that make Mr Bond squirm when he sees the pics!

From Ingleton came 3 steam locos and the slate wagons, here is Scrumpy Jack, alas the wagons did have a couple of accidents as usual...

I bought along Urien for the first time in a while to this railway

Whilst PTLRcecil shocked everyone by actually bringing his Mike Chany scratchbodge Jenny to a steamup! Also, some say that when The Stig hears the term "heaboard", he takes it rather too litterally...

As well as Urien I thought I would annoy everyone with Criccieth Castle yet again. Did get lots of chance to test it out with heavy trains though, I was quite content when it dragged this train plus a dead Urien up the 1 in 50 slope up into the shed

Whilst Simon also bought along Mordred the Slaters Prince, like Criccieth Castle it seems to go everywhere at the moment

At this point, we decided the trains were too short....

It's Matt's Lawley, Whinlatter making its first apperance at an NWAG steamup I think with lines, crests and nameplates

The traditional ANLR/PTLR double header, we've still got plenty of combinations to go although I think we've had the best ones now!

Great pics Chris. Your correct, today was the first time Whinlatter's been on a railway with the plates, crests, and lining. Here are a few I took today.






First, Whinlatter on it's first train.



Gussie and the Sliverdale Wrekin at the foot of the incline.


A rather nice Lady Ann (forgot who brought it).


Whinlatter on shed with the residential locos.


Jenny at the bottom of the garden.


For a brief time, Whinlatter was taken over by the killer bunnies of NWAG, but they quickly got bored and took the next train out.


Whinlatter with two sets of coaches approaching the main station. This is when we started getting silly with the train lengths.


Jenny and Gussie took over when Whinlatter ran out of gas.


Not to be outdone, I coupled up every available coach, turned the gas to full, and opened up the regulator. Whinlatter just abut managed to crawl around the line about 5 times.

Gussie and Urien then took over.


The last steam hauled train of the day.



Eventually, the gas ran out, and Criccieth Castle came to haul the dead steamer and it's train to the shed.



But it ran out of power at the foot of the incline, and Whinlatter was left at Wyre
Until Simon's Slater's prince came to the rescue.




And after a lot of wheel spin, managed to return Whinlatter to the shed.

Thanks to SBR Arthur for a great afternoon, hope to visit again sometime soon.
