Well based on the Haynes manual showing a wayside halt, we decided to have a go at our own version of it. Bought some ply at a cost of around £5, already had some paint and lots of tools and got started.

Some ply, lollipop sticks, McDonalds stirring sticks, glue and paint later this is what we ended up with. Full marks to Suzi for her paintwork on these The painting looks much better in real life than on the pictures....

Hope you like it even half as much as we do, in a few weeks time we are hoping to have a go at the full station....

Looks good, I too have purchased a copy of the manual and although the actual design for the buildings seems very good i didn't like the just wood with burnt lines finish he left on everything.

I much prefer the finish you have achieved with this building.

We thought just the same as yourself and were not taken by the burnt wood effect, but its a good job I personally didn't have to paint it, otherwise it would have been a basic all over colour, wood and metal I can work with, paint, unfortunately not, lol

I have cut the sides for the larger station now that we are very happy with the result from this one. The book although doesn't give every detail of every size and cut etc, it gives enough of a rough size and hint of what you can do, perfect I would say, enough to help, but not too much to turn it into a tracing the parts type build.

Once the station is complete (weeks away yet) then we might have a go at some rolling stock out of there too, who knows what will turn out
