oh, that is a beauty.

I've been thinking about getting either a George or a Lew this summer.

Now, my mind is made up.

Well, I was going for the Lew but 1), I've already got an Accucraft, 2), I haven't got much room where I'm at, so a smaller engine would be better, and 3), I personally think the George is Prettier.

Guys, quick question, the top of the lubricator, does this need to be very tight, as I can't undo it by hand, might have to get the screwdriver out to loosen it a bit :?

My goodness, they did a nice job with that engine. It took a long time for me to decide between a "Billy" with a tender and a "Lady Anne"... That "George" has all the things I like about both of them and none of the things I don't.

Video, please!

Good looking engine & in a good colour! Nice one. Enjoy it.
Tommy Dodd may have an ARS key but I have a TASS button & a Rope Ladder, just like pirates, except the TASS button bit.

I really like that, it reminds me of the Exmoor engines you see on many a miniature line 8)

Gave it a brief run over a 3ft length of track just now. It all seems to work okay, safety valve was lifting a bit but it wasn't using much steam up anyway.
I think I'll wait till tomorrow now where there will be some guys who know what they are doing and can help me with it!

Another pic for you all:

Is it ok to leave a little water and gas in the engine until its run tomorrow or should I empty it?

Thanks
Steven

Personally I don't like leaving gas in a loco, after leaving the edrig with half a tank of gas in the kitchen once, and the gas valve didn't shut properley and stunk half the house out

As for water, I tend to drain the boiler's if the loco isn't going to be run for a few days, but leaving some in there overnight is fine (I've only started to do this however since moving to York, because of the harder water than Wales)

Apart from all that I do quite like the appearance of the loco, the tender however looks a bit large (and also a lightly modded Penrhyn Tender?)

Well spotted, sir! I KNEW I'd seen it somewhere before, but couldn't quite put my finger on it.
Well, now we know the buffer-stops work! (Heard at 2013 "Longest Day" solstice steamup)

I think Roundhouse has a winner! :)
Also, leaving water in overnight is ok, as long as the temperature of storage is above freezing. Also I recommend leaving the regulator open; as this prevents the boiler from being under a vacuum and causing damage.
Have fun! :)

Great looking loco, i like the way the safety valve is under the dome, the whistle base looks to be a nice casting as well, nicer than a bent piece of wire. cheers Rob
