Lamps and Detailing

I recently acquired a trio of lamps and some GRS frets off Ebay. I thought they were ornamental only and two of them were - white, roundhandle, one red, one white lens.
The third is a sleek black number with a working amber LED! And the whole set only cost me £12.
Now here's the problem.
I'd like to use a fret to hang a lamp off the smokebox of a Mamod-smoke-fitted locomotive. I initially thought epoxy might work, but the smokeboxes get hot and so the epoxy would likely run [very likely run!]
What do people suggest?
ALSO
I'd like to try and rivet-detail the same smokebox as there is no way in Hell noone would sell me an original IPE Jane smokebox seperately from their loco [and I must say I can't blame them!]
Is there any advice, suggestions or how-to to go about this without cutting said smokebox up?
Many thanks gents
