Lamps and Detailing

I recently acquired a trio of lamps and some GRS frets off Ebay. I thought they were ornamental only and two of them were - white, roundhandle, one red, one white lens.

The third is a sleek black number with a working amber LED! And the whole set only cost me £12.

Now here's the problem.

I'd like to use a fret to hang a lamp off the smokebox of a Mamod-smoke-fitted locomotive. I initially thought epoxy might work, but the smokeboxes get hot and so the epoxy would likely run [very likely run!]

What do people suggest?

ALSO

I'd like to try and rivet-detail the same smokebox as there is no way in Hell noone would sell me an original IPE Jane smokebox seperately from their loco [and I must say I can't blame them!]

Is there any advice, suggestions or how-to to go about this without cutting said smokebox up?

Many thanks gents

I'd gently drill and tap the smokebox to take a suitably-sized BA bolt and attach the lamp iron thussly. The Roundhouse ones come with two holes.......... Do the GRS ones?

They do have two holes...two extremely small holes. I also have no screws as such so small. :/

Drill a very small hole and superglue a bent and cut down dressmaking pin to make a mounting.
For extra rivet heads cut some dressmaking pins heads off and superglue in position then add black paint to seal them in place.

Thanks fior the advice SCC. I had considered superglue, but I also know that the Mamod/MSS smokeboxes get red hot in use - wouldn't this melt the glue?

What superglue is it that you used then? :)

'Black pump thing'? A vaccuum hose perchance?

Cheers for the photo. :)

That's a sandbox I think?

The sand box was put on by a previous owner to "narrow gauge" it more. it is riveted on but had become wobbly so a drop of superglue has fixed it.
