Hello there, this is my first post on the forum, ive had my mamod for about 3 months now, and have done a repaint using railmatch paints, which, after its first steaming since, has blistered the paint, can anyone recomend where to get paint suitablly heat proof? Thinking of a Nice Blue, Near to S&DJR Blue?

Hya Alistair,
Which parts have blistered?? I only ask as my mamod which is gas fired has it's cab & tanks painted in Railmatch GWR green spray paint & have never had a problem. I always do teh boilers & combustion chamber in VHT paint though.

Mainly the side tanks, mines meths fired, until I can afford the gas upgrade from dream steam anyway! I sprayed the boiler in normal car spray paint! And that's fine?

I have always painted mine with car paint and only do the boilers in the VHT. Have a look for a car colour you like then havea look online for the paint code, or have a look in the reference section as there is a list of car paint/ railway colour matches

I resprayed one of my mamods without it blistering. The paint I used was Plasti-kote projekt paint. I use meths firing on this one too.http://thumbs.webs.com/Members/viewThum ... size=thumb

Ill take a look about, probably won't repaint again until I've done the upgrades, then paint all the parts flat!

Thanks for the help:)

Most of the platstikote spray paints are designed to be ok up to 400 degree Celcius.
