Post by 90733 » Mon Nov 29, 2010 5:44 pm

Just wondering what radius people thin these coaches will go round?

Don't want to buy and find out I have too tight radius!
Thanks

Being bogie stock they will go round tight radii, however you will be risking buffer lock on anything under 4 foot radius. However they should be reasonably reliable down to 2 foot 6 as long as you drive carefully
"What the hell is that?"
"It's a model icebreaker sir."
"It's a bit big isn't it?"
"It's a full scale model sir....."

As lallratty has just said, bogie stock can go round very taight raadi but the limiting factors are the overhang on each end. To solve this you could use coupling that swing from side to side or mount the bogies further out, however there will be more of an overhang on the inside then. I sometimes have problems with buffer locking on my ip engineering FR coaches which have the bogies in the right position, quite far in but with some careful driving I have gotten used to how they perform.

Can you not just cheat a little & use the 00 gauge & Accy L&B bogie type & fix the couplers to the bogie's with a long bar. That way you can go around just about anything.
Tommy Dodd may have an ARS key but I have a TASS button & a Rope Ladder, just like pirates, except the TASS button bit.
