Re: Name plates
I'm very sorry to read that. Was this just name plates, or were there works plates included in the order too? Works plates require custom transfers to be made, and this can cause a delay but no more usually than two months from date of order. Name plates are usually despatched in under a month.DVT Dweller wrote:... I know MDC do them but the last set a friend had off them he waited over 2 months for. Any ideas?
John also goes away on holiday or business from time to time, and this can also cause an unavoidable delay.
Some plates ordered by one of my customers from another supplier starting with the 7th letter of the alphabet on the 27th August arrived on 3rd November, so that will be two months and five days by my reckoning. And they are sooooo thin....

I think Tom meant they were surface engraved so the lettering is below the surface to remove everything apart from the border and lettering (raised as in cast style)is a lot more difficult and acid etching is the eaisier method of doing that.Keith&Joanna:46503 wrote:Two weeks seems very reasonable compared with others trading in this field :DM-G-Railway:46496 wrote:before i swiched to 32mm i got name plates from a metal ingravers in my locol town center it was about £5 for two and where finished in two weeks but i asked him for a narrow gauge look and i understud why it took so long
