I have the good fortune to obtain cheaply this scratch built 4-6-2 O gauge chassis

I am seeking ideas

I have thought SAR 3 type loco or Swilley tank or even Hawthorne Dubs type tender loco ie SAR or Darjeeling....or even Emett aka Stowell

Ideas??? only thing I run SM32 so 15/16mm scale probebly battery powered

As it's you David, it's got to be an Emmett style engine!

I can't see the pics as there are blocked where I am, so I'm going to vote Darjeeling, as I know what that looks like, and i like it.

The darjeeling matches the wheel sizes the best

Hawthorne would be my vote...obviously. But seriously looks like a nice loco to me.

I am with Pendo on that, I like the Hawthorne too. Would be quite different, which fits your bill mate.

2 other 2' gauge pacific possibilities spring to mind.

1) SAR NG10. Baldwin-built american style 4-6-2 tender engine. South African railways had several, and one was supplied to a cement co and is now at the Brecon Mountain Railway.



2) SAR NG42/3. Two personal favourites. These 4-6-2Ts were supplied by Bagnall for commuter operations on the Walmer branch (a 6 mile branch off the vast Avontuur line), and were based on the 4-6-0 B class, which was in turn based on some Baldwin 2-6-0s for the hopefield branch, so they were a British-built engine with colonial accessories (HUGE headlight, cowcatchers) based on american design practice (bar frames, cylinders and smokebox saddle cast in one huge lump)

Couldn't find a picture anywhere on the web- I've only ever seen two in print, but a thumbnail sketch with leading dimensions appears in Moir's "24 inches apart"

Thanks for the advice....I would love a tender loco but have tight curves...BUT might be able to work something

The fact that she is inside-framed would make it a particuarly suitable for you chassis, methinks...
