Talyllyn No.1

Post by Narrow Minded » Fri Jun 18, 2010 11:52 pm

Funny how one thing can lead to another.

Having received the news from Sir Haydn that Blodwen was ready for delivery from Berry Hill Works, I'd decided to get my posterior in motion and put a suitable rake of stock together.
First up was the all third Locolines Corris coach which I've now fitted with the excellent bogie frames from Andel. (I requested the frames only since I've kept costs down by re-using some wheelsets from stock - well, the bits box).

Rostered with a first class GVT coach, TR Nos 2 & 4 it all looked quite neat but reminded me that I still had an unstarted Tenmille kit for TR No.1.

So, at 10.25pm I've made a start!

Chassis made up, seats constructed & painted, side panel laminates cut out and the first coat of paint on the side & end panels.
We're having to hire a van for tomorrows gig up in Connah's Quay which will eat into the time, but, will it be ready for sunday afternoon?

(Watch this space  )

Well, with running around looking for a replacement van and visiting my dad for Fathers Day, the coach didn't get completed
I got it to a "running state" though, with only the door handles to fit and the centre buffers to paint :D

Unfortunately I couldn't run on sunday anyway with so much to do. I did manage a quick visit to collect Blodwen though and have to say that the photo's don't do her justice! Absolutely fantastic job by Matt at Berry Hill Works :D :D

Off to look at another van now, then getting ready to set off for Shrewsbury for tonights gig.
If I don't get photo's today, they will be on here tomorrow!!!!!!!!!!

Must say at this point that it hurt yesterday, being just 20 miles from Welshpool but couldn't visit

Well, I have No.2 & 5 so I can run a short TR rake. Then I can add the GVT first class coach to extend the four wheel stock, and Corris No.17 as a bogie observation carriage.

Limping Lulu is on the "wanted" list, then of course a quarrymans coach ;)

if you get a limping lulu you have to make it limp. i have with mine. Justs enough to give it a prototypical wobble as the real thing did in the 50's

Nice one Greg, looks like a very useful coach & fits in well.
Tommy Dodd may have an ARS key but I have a TASS button & a Rope Ladder, just like pirates, except the TASS button bit.
