Never give up.... you have achieved so much and inspired so many it is not within your nature to yield to now.
When the wall is fixed you will begin to see new possibilities opening up and a fresh start might be exactly what you need.
Be positive!

Sorry to hear that, Zach, it must be heartbreaking. We know from 41 pages of the DVLR saga how much you've put into it. But I can't see you giving up and I'm sure, once you've recovered from the shock, you'll bounce back.

Now I have a bit of an apology to make. This was all a scheme by the company to drum up passenger numbers (having seen the number of people who flock to imminently closing down lines). The wall is still in tact as is the railway. All is well on the 1st of April in the Deben Valley

On a more serious note. Thank you very much for you concerns, it is quite touching to know that the DVLR has friends who care for its welfare.

Arrrgh!!! I fell for it! I've just been running a train myself and pondering the DVLR's sad demise all the while!

Glad all's well - and what a great photo!

I feel very hurt that my sympathy has been abused !
Quite frankly joking about your line being crushed by a wall is the epitome of bad taste

I imagine a man of your background knows the story of the boy who cried 'Wolf!!'.

Oh dear, I'm in trouble...

I realise now that when the wall does crumble in no one will believe me...

I'll make up for it with some nice photos and perhaps a video when I get a steamer out.

In other news I've been busy re-stocking the railway with alpines. I've found one which looks like tiny ferns " Leptinella" which I have planted under some conifers. We'll see if it takes.

Can't afford all these expensive high winds down here in Wales. We have to make do with second hand after all the rich folk in England have had 'em!

The cheek of it! The high winds which removed a large section of my car port roof a couple of days ago, was definitely coming FROM the direction of S. Wales!

Once the up coming "DVation" has been carried out we should have space to re-instate Butley Halt (don't say we don't listen to our passengers demands). Here is a mock up of what the new Butley Halt should look like - inspiration taken from Hendy Halt on the Tal-y-llyn Railway.

I've taken the opportunity to remodel the corner a little bit and mock up the bridge

Is this a neighbours dog?

May I suggest a bill to be presented to the owners for damage to track etc. We had a similar problem with the next door neighbours yorkie coming into our garden and performing in the middle of the lawn, swimming in the pond and digging up shrubs. I had been quite understanding about it for a while but after I watched the little blighter deposit a pile of droppings in my sons sand pit. I gathered the mess up and neatly bagged it up and returned it to the neighbours with a polite comment "I think this is yours and by the way I will let you have the receipt for the plants I have bought to replace the ones your little angel destroyed"

Haven't seen the money yet, but I haven't seen the dog either!

It belongs to the mother's current so lives with us. We've put in a trellis wall that we can step over but the fat dog can not to stop this from happening again.
