In have finally had some spare time to create the crest for the D&FGR, and i have come down to 2 conclusions, here they are:
1.
2.
I am going to add a photo of H.G.Butler in the middle, i don't know what angle or anything as of yet, i just need to get a better photo really. Is there anything that you guys would say to change on these?
Thanks

Nice, scrap the date at the top, this will really pi$$ you off in years to come when its not 2010

I was thinking of getting rid of it, but I have originally intended for it to be created for the 20th "anniversary" of the railway, and i'm having several special "events" on throughout the year to celebrate this.
I i actually manage to be able to put this on the rolling stock/locos, then i probably will get rid of the date so i don't have to replace them at a later date

I agree with scrap the date but perhaps put the company initials up there instead.
Just a thought.

Hmm, that is a good, idea.
I'll have a play around with it later on when i next get some spare time!

Very nice, how about having some intertwinned lettering inside instead of a picture. Depending on era older companies wouldn't have had a photograph.

I'd scrap the date thing too.
Why are their two different initials at the bottom.
Apart from that I'd leave it, I think a photo of a loco would be a step down.

I did think of some older lettering, as it is meant to be based in the 1930's (ish), and the railway originally built in the mid-latish 1800's
The DLR&G initials is going to take a bit of explaining, but here goes:
Supposedly in mid 2009, the Dolwyddelan & Fron Goch Railway (D&FGR) joined hands with the Suchnant & Conwy Railway (S&CR) and the Essex and East London Railway (EELR) so they could get themselves all more well known with advertisement etc etc. They called themselves "The Dolwyddelan Light Railways & Gauges" (The
DLR&G Railways) The gauges represents all the different gauges they are all on (D&FGR = SM32, S&CR=OO, EELR=N) and it's on there to say that it's a member of it etc.
Sorry If I've bored you all to death about all that or made you even more confused!
If you are intersted in the full story there is a bit on my website in "History of the D&FGR".If i ever do crests for the other railways they will also have the DLR&G on it as well.
Thanks for the feedback, as i said i'll have a play around with it and see what i end up with

Looks great, could you swap the date for a company motto, in Welsh?

I know it's what most welsh railways use, but you could incorporate the prince of wales feathers somewhere?

Never really thought of that, but i've never really thought of a motto for the railway before! Need to get thinking!

I would like to do that, but that will take a looooooooong time to get within a near enough standard for my liking, or for it to be recognisable! But i may give it a try

Here is my newer one, heres a little quiz:
which railway crest have i nicked the wraped belt off?
(ignore all the stuff to the side, i forgot to get rid of them!)

Aren't there loads of railways that use the belt? such as ffestiniog, talyllyn, welshpoola nd llanfair, lynton and barnstaple etc

Hmmm, just realised that they do

woops, but anyway, i have got it really close to the old GNER crest (which in my opinion is really good

)
But i also think the belt makes it look slightly better as well!

Yep, the belt is definately an improvement.

Hmm, I don't have a belt just railway initials.... Is it important to have a crest?

I would rather a crest, currently 1/3 way though the feathers now
What i would love to do is when i re-paint Britomart and add nameplates etc to Phoenix, i would love to add the crest on as well, makes it look more personalised as well!

Looks great! When I did mine, I couldn't be ar**ed, so I just copied some random white round belt crest off the internet and put the name on it.

lol, surprisingly, believe it or not, the total time i have spent on it so far is about 2 1/2 hours! It isn't that hard really, if you know what your doing with the software!
