well with alan you either get the quickly or very slow i would you send him a email it takes less time

You have to have actually RECIEVED some plates off him to get the number - it's on the compliments slip he sends with 'em!

As I reply to the many threads i see like this, this isnt Alans full time buisness so things will take a little longer. He also holds up a full time job as a teacher I belive. Hes also a member here so a little sensitivity wouldnt go a miss.

ive met alan on a number of occasions and he helped me run my portable layout at an event in the summer and you couldnt hope to meet a more genuine 16mm er

As Will said (and I echo all of his comments), Alan's full time job is teaching and making nameplates is an aside. You do get them eventually, but do you really need nameplates within a short space of time?

After all for full size locos a pattern has to be made, materials sourced, melted, cast, machined/cleaned up, painted, polished and then dispatched.

But even if you have the best intentions, as I believe Alan does, if you can't provide a product within a sensible time span (say 2 months) and communicate with your customers then you shouldn't offer a product in such a widespread manner.

It's all very well saying you'll get a speedy reply should you contact Alan through a Mamod forum, but you shouldn't have to join a forum to get a reply, aswell as that, not everyone knows that is the best way to contact him.

I ordered a headboard of alan a year back. It took 3 months to arrive and that was after I had to give him an open slating on the forum
