HI,

I have a Lindale Sam similar to this one:

Now the restoration is complete and the loco runs I need a few wagons for it.
What would you suggest?

As the loco has an older (maybe 'pre-Grouping'?) appearance, then my thoughts would favour older wagon types. I've no specific wagons to suggest but if it was me, I'd have a wander through some pictures of 'older' trains and see what caught my eye. The lack of a cab does point towards a Victorian era loco/train, so what's available from that period? (How much did narrow gauge wagons really change? I suspect not as much as standard gauge).

Purely from an aesthetic PoV, I'd suggest wagons with a relatively low profile, maybe three plankers rather than five for opens etc.? Some opens with sheet rails - to me the use of those rather than vans for goods suggests earlier periods. Any box vans, I'd suggest using smaller types.

Does the loco roll as much as the article suggests? If so, I'd think about making sure the first wagon in a train is well compensated, to reduce the risk of derailments.

The loco really rolls so I am thinking about a long coupling to stop the first wagon from being thrown about.
As the loco is VERY narrow gauge but very wide across the side tanks, stndard wagons will look strange.

If the loco's a bit narrow, then maybe some of Plateway's 'slender' wagons may be appropriate?
